When you hit the navigation button it will load the GMPC navigation plugin. This will take you to the navigation panel inside OM and display only the GMPC Map & Menu interface within' OM. You will then have complete control over the navigation just like if you were to use the program outside of OM.
The part that makes OM's implementation unique, is it solves the limitations encountered when simply embeddnig GMPC into a frontend. OM's GMPC plugin only shows the map and menu area of the GMPC program. All of the control buttons are actual skinnable buttons inside OM that communicates to GMPC using a native API, rather than simulating key presses. It can also be resized smaller than the embedded limit of 800x450, which is alot of screen real estate when running an 800x480 resolution monitor. Finally, the OM plugin exposes advanced options to the skinner that are not possible when simply embedding GMPC. The skinner can actually animate the map&menu interface to fade-in, fade-out, fly-in, fly-out, and etc. So its really a very integrated navigation solution. Check out the other threads Justchat linked to at the beginning of the thread for screenshots.
I have sd2 which does the google earth sat overlay. does this nav software has anything like that or 3-d buildings?
No, GMPC doesnt have those features. Screenshots of basically the entire program can be found over at LaptopGPSWorld if you want to check it out. It does allow you to change your navigation vehicle to all kinds of different vehicles that they have on their site. You can also install voice packs that will change the navigation voice. Although the only TTS enabled voice is Microsoft Mary? that comes standard.
Edit: Also, OM adds functionality to the GMPC software. It allows for full Gesture and Speech control.
justchat1, do you think your frontend will be better then any of the others thats out in a year or so? just hate using this sd2, need a better option. since I have wxp, can I add voice to this or do I need w7?
