Yep, that's what I meant - as in no need for debug.dll![]()
I can tell from justchat_1's "whats new" list a lot of stuff has been done under the covers, but I have to agree with CraziFuzzy, I really don't see any difference between this and 7. Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe when the plugins and new skin is ready I'll get clued in.![]()
Just compare CPU usage, and the animations. CPU is at a minimum (30% to 2% on my atom based netbook), and the animations are perfectly smooth. Nothing is choppy, everything is fast in the graphics department. It may not look like much right now, as the current skin does not do many complex animations, but just compare the overall performance and speed to the previous version. Its just a preview of what we've been up to, we have alot of new plugins being tested and finalized, and a few new skins under development, that will put the new graphics technology to the test.
Thanks for the continued support. Maybe I can do a quick video comparison on my 6 year old vaio lap-top running 0.7 versus 0.8.
As I posted earlier I think the speed difference is awesome.
I can see it when I switch between the plugins.
Is there a way to get a skin to try out with the 0.8 preview to really see the performance difference?

Were actually working on an embedded os version of openmobile aimed at something just like that. heezer7 is working on a stripped down version of ubuntu/moblin and im working on using tinycorelinux. I think he has boot times down to <10seconds and is still stripping things out...I have a boot time of about 2.5seconds and am trying to add in the necessary bits without raising that too much.
If we can get a nice tiny linux distro OM should fly on one of those boards..we basically do everything with the GPU and thats certainly a powerful enough graphics chip.

stripped down version of ubuntu? like linuxice :P? Also, you can custom make images of meego-core with whatever user-facing ux/frontend that you want fairly easily. Then you get atom or armv7 optimized binaries and fastboot automagically. ...just a thought.
