you guys are fantastic, you can tell you are doing this right. solid install routine in xp/sp3 and vista sp2. now just hook me up with that teaser 3 skin and i be all set. Keep up the GREAT work! SNO
First, I'd like to say thank you for all your hard work! You guys and your program are awsome! Just sent a $50 donation to help keep this project going, and I challenge others to donate what they can.
Speaking of the long click... Here's a newbe tip: Want to assign a button to bring up your external nav skin, weather skin, networking, etc? Long click on one of the unassigned buttons, and that will bring up a menu of the options that can be assigned to it.
I may be jumping the gun on mentioning these things, since I don't know what features are supported yet, but here goes:
External Navigation works well (using IGuidance) but when it's running, OM shows the Windows taskbar on the bottom. Clicking on the OM Icon on the taskbar brings OM back to the fron though.
Attempting to play videos plays sound but not video.
Some voice commands work and some don't. "Show Navigation" brings up the sliding media skin instead of navigation. "Play Artist _________" throws me out of OM, so does "Show Home" Many others do nothing. I have trained the speach recognition in Windows7.
.ogg & .mp4 won't play and sometimes freezes audio player.
Doesn't seem to have any bluetooth pairing with my phone, although I know the phone and PC are connected.
Haven't tried DVD playback yet.
Thanks again guys!
Big John

Hi,
I uninstalled and installed it again. Still it does not see my webcam (Creative Labs Live Ultra VF0490).
However, I figure out how do select drivers and folders further down the screen: you have to click and drag with the mouse and lift them up. Arrows won't work. But that''s okay. It's still indexing, lots of failures being reported though, I see about that later.
I have a two monitor setup and it takes a while to settle (Latest Nvidia Drivers), sometimes it shows two blank windows on monitor no. 2. This happens everytime focus is on monitor no.1. When the taskbar is active (press windows button), or click on where the screen on the monitor no.2 should be showing, it start showing both correctly. Click back on screen no.1 and only it displays correctly.
Hope this helps.

seem to be having the same issue with the linux install as nasa.. currently at their step of waiting for the installer to finish hanging. (it's actually asking in the terminal window for my sudo password again.. heh)
Few small bugs with the plugin installer (great to see it working!)
1. if I select a plugin meant for windows. it tells me so, that's good, then it crashes.. not so good. (or maybe the closing when completed is intended)
2. I clicked on the e-mail provider plugin to see if it was the one yelling at me for not being for my os. And it crashed.
2a. it looks like if I select one plugin to view the info on it, then click a second to view info it will crash.
2b. if I uncheck the one i was viewing info for before viewing info for the next the crash goes away.
2c. The skins however require viewing info for each selection, so they crash by default.
2d. if it crashes and you have selected multiple packages, it appears to install none
2e. it appears to only crash if the info doesn't load completely before selecting another plugin
3. the universal audio selector isn't so universal. Probably already planned but filtering out the windows plugins, yes pls
4. the plugin installer always opens in my second screen. very minor but I didn't even notice it after I installed OM, heh
5. it doesn't tell me which plugins i have installed already
6. skins for plugins don't "auto install" with plugins?
6a. when installing for instance the music player, I had to choose the player + the skin. If i chose just the player, it would start but not let me access it. just the skin, OM wouldn't start. both, OM will start, but the music player will not. (im guessing the media database has been disabled)
7. omdebug doesn't seem to want to install
7a. copying !OMDebug from the /opt/openMobile/Tools dir causes OM to crash outright, no debug is created in ~/.config/openMobile
8. seems like neither does omlinplayer
8a. I got omlinplayer to install once I carefully went through and looked for individual plugins without it crashing (not entirely sure what all i selected, but got the message that "media player crashed" regardless.)
9. apparently even though the installer forced /opt it still looks at the ~/OpenMobile for plugins and settings (not entirely a bad thing)
think that's about all i have for now. if I can provide anything else please lemme know!
ok, completely fresh install after manually cleaning up without making any changes in the plugin manager this time.
I copied !OMDebug.dll from the tools dir into the plugins folder and got an OMDebug.txt! woot! cept.. well, it says everything went fine.
but the music plugin isn't listed when i try to set a button to it "no omlinplayer, no media" and tapping the music button does nothing.

I'll do the bumbling, and i'll be the idiot.
if you've got a "stupid" question, search for some of mine!
As you probably noticed none of these complaints came for the windows version....these are bugs in mono (and its horrific regression testing) not bugs in OM. We have workarounds for as many mono bugs as we find but more seem to popup with each new version they release. Will try to repro and workaround the mono glitches that got through.....
The goal would be to make all the plugins universal...will work on UAS linux issues.
I have no idea...
Thats not supported by the current plugin system-future releases will be more package manager like but a lot of work for conflict and dependency resolution has to be finished first.
By design-yes, currently there are only 2 media skins but there will be quite a few more in the near future...so pairing both wouldn't make sense. In a much later version dependency resolution will be implemented to help prevent forgotten plugins.
What distro and version? I'm betting the installation issues are why its crashing...
