Hmmm. The IONITX-F-E I am thinking on ordering only says DVI, but it has holes for all the pins, so I don't really know if it is DVI-D or I. One of the many reasons I want this board is the included Wifi thus the PCI slot is available for an additional video card so that I can (presumably) grow from 1 to 2 to 3 zones in steps. Therefore, the DVI port would use a simple DVI to VGA adapter to grow to zone 2, then pop in a PCI for zone 3. However, if it is not DVI-I(analog) then am I stuck? Do I have to go with a PCI card that supports dual display.

Wow, I really am pretty savy with computers, but not too practiced at setting up multi displays.

I would do something similar to my multizone install. Number one, if you want to use a PCI grapchics card, do not use onboard. Simply buy a PCI card (or whatever your PC has) and get one with 2 diplay ports. Then buy a USB Graphics card with a DisplayLink 195 chipset (that is the one with HD video). Second, I am sure that port is most likely a DVI-D port. Zotac's boards are usually geared towards HD content and gaming, and a DVI-D port is going to deliver that. Remember these Mini-ITX boards are focused on people that want to connect a PC to their HDTVs. They dont take us small majority Car PC hobbyists into account.

You arent stuck, you just have to buy an adapter. Like I said though, if you do plan to use a PCI card, then you cant use onboard anyways. It will eat up your system resources and be glitchy. What type of slot does the PC use, PCI, or PCIe? If its PCI, I have a brand new graphics card sitting here I can send you. I bought 2 to use on my multizone, but the PC wouldnt except both of them at the same time. In the end I used only one and the USB cards.

Thanks for the offer. The slot is PCI Express 2.0 x16 Slot.

Oh, and that means I don't need to worry about having nVidia onboard anyway. Could save a few bucks there as well.

    Cheers

Well if it is a PCIe slot, in most cases it will automatically disable onboard. The card I have is PCI, so it wont work. You can get a nice decent card from tiger direct for pretty cheap though. The USB graphics card I got from tiger direct also for like 54.95. Just make sure its the model that has its own RAM and says HD on it.

Well no problem about the card. And now i don't know what the slot will be since i will search just a little more without the concern for premium onboard video. I am hoping to order a board by the end of the week.

I am quite surprised at how few mini itx boards i can find locally.

I get all my MoBos from NewEgg. They are awesome! Have pretty good deals.

Thanks for that. You have mentioned before but only this morning did I realize they have a Canadian site. Could make my life a little easier. I live in Niagara Falls and it's not a long trip to cross over to pick up packages, but it still costs me $10 round trip.

But anyway, this may be the board for me.

Add in a couple decent USB->VGA and USB->AUDIO and I'm almost there. The VM70 monitors + salvaged headrests and misc. additional cables.

Okay, I'm ahead of myself. Grab the board and replace it first

The link you supplied doesnt work, takes me to the homepage of NewEgg.

If you go with the soundcards I linked to, the VM70 screens, and what not, you should be on your way, and at a decent price. Just dont get discouraged. Multizone setup can be a b!+ch to set up and fine tune.

God, what a heatsink it has. Im glad i checked this out. I dont think you can buy graphics cards in that PCIe x1 slot. It has to have a PCIe x16 slot.

I am browsing through and I see the Canada site has a smaller selection, that sucks!

Does it have to be an ATOM based? You could buy the MoBo and processor seperate. Since you are doing a multizone setup, a beefier processor may work out better.

Then pair it with any of these processors. At least then if later you want more processing power, you dont have to swap out the whole motherboard.

True, but I thought I would go with 2 USB VGA adapters for the rear passengers.

Yes, us poor canucks suffer (sometimes) in life eh?

Well, of course, it doesn't have to be ATOM. If my 90W PSU can handle it and my RAM fits. And preferably fits the custom metal box I made (miniITX).

This board seems to qualify. If I read it right, any CPU with max TDP of 65W. That + hard drive (~5W?) and a couple of USB (another 5-6W) should be okay.

The link sent for CPUs only took me to the front page, but I'll have a look around. But they will also need a heatsink, no? I mean, I know they need it (and come with it) but just had to say that

    This CPU?
