My needs for the PC have dropped considerably, as the navi on my phone is FAR better than anything on the PC. This leaves the PC there for just Radio, and Pandora, and music library... Pandora and the music libary i can also do on my phone.

While you won't get the intended sound quality, you can always take a portable radio

My last build I had was back in April though... Would a "-fullscreen" fit to 800x480, or would it still be cutoff? Or does the 701 do a better resolution (I can't test cause I screwed up my graphic drivers after my initial functionality)?
When you run OM in fullscreen it will adjust itself to fill the whole screen (to whatever resolution you have), if you run it in windowed mode you might get some cut offs if your resolution is smaller than the default window size.
OM is using internal dimensions of 1000x600 but that does not affect anything regarding the screen resolution, it's only a base dimension for skins so we now what we start with when calculating scale.
    Failure is not an option...

Nav on my Android is pay-for. Using the 4" screen is too hard on my eyes even when not driving.

I have Garmin Mobile PC which is no longer supported. But it has been more than excellent for me.

I believe this fall I will make a switch to iGuidance. And at least it has an on-screen keyboard where GMPC did not. I would have to plug one in to type addresses. I resorted to installing Zero-Weight Keyboard which helped a lot.

That's actually pretty common, as a lot of people choose to bring lawn chairs, etc and sit outside for the movie (weather dependent, of course).

I use Google Maps w/ Navigation. It is hands down the best nav system ever, continually updated maps, traffic based routing (with realtime traffic overlays). Free on just about every android device, the only thing it requires is internet access (though it does cache a LOT of info, so short term outages are no problem).

I thought a short update was in order....

    - It's been a crazy week. The devs have been hard at work (real life jobs AND openMobile) and managed to get quite a bit of work done. I have been running in and out, putting test files on my carpc like there's no tomorrow. I have full dual-zone hardware setup which helped land me this job

Multi-zone is real close. Owing to a few fails on my part, a "detect / auto-detect" feature was added. Trust me, this has helped a whole lot. There is still a small issue (touch works on my Zone2 but no touch on Zone1 while OM is in full screen). That is currently being addressed and has been where most of the energy has been spent. A couple of minor graphical issues. No biggy.

A small bug in HD Radio has been resolved. I would experience not having audio from the radio into the line-in on resume from hibernate. Other folks did not experience the same issue. This has been remedied. The suspect was differences between the FTDI and Prolific chipset drivers for USB/Serial cables.

Some new flexibility on the internal structure for sensors has been added. Those who write (or will write) plug-ins will really appreciate some of the work that has gone into this stuff. PS: sensors are pretty much any appliation data item that can be used, or set, by any plug-in. Such as GPS position, speed, currently tuned station, etc. IE; not just a vehicle "sensor")

It shouldn't be too much longer before we can upload something (on post #1 and SVN on Sourceforge) for folks to test. We need it to be a little more stable so that every member that tests it isn't crashing. Besides, we wouldn't want to make the devs look bad would we?

There are no plans to change from GNU General Public License v3 (or higher).
