Looking good, guys!
We actually compile the navit shared dll ourselves and are able to create plugins that directly control its functionality. We wanted to make use of Navit's GUI at first, but realized that we could leave it up to the plugin creator to skin or write their own menu using C#. We still have the limitations of the core Navit engine, however, we've created an interface to the core Navit functions so we have complete control over the inputs.
BTW this is only working with OpenGL right now.
Looking good, guys!
Well, update time once again. And wait for it....... wait for it........
There is a new commit!
I've started giving it some testing, and I must say I'm quite impressed. Although testing has only just begun, and other devs now have to modify their plugins, Multi-zone functionality appears to be a reality! And there is a lot of functionality to multi-zone.
The buttons are a little "spiffier".
We're so close I can taste it.

I loaded up the new commit all I can say is wow!
The new zone implementation is fantastic, and, at least to me, it's much easier to use and as a dev understand how it works.
Some of the new graphic implementations for controls are awesome. Controls look a lot smoother and slicker!

This is looking pretty awesome! I may have to check it out. Sounds like one of these FE's might actually get multi-zones to work right which is something I've been looking for!
Just a heads up: The latest build is available at the OpenMobile BuildFarm: http://openmobile.sourceforge.net/main/trunk/ (scroll all the way to the bottom)
Be aware though that this is not the final public version, this is a trunk build and might contain bugs and partly implemented features. It also has limited plugins (only the very basics) at the moment.

Well, update posts have been a little tardy. But in my defense I've moved house, the weather here is unseasonably warm and wonderful so I have been doing some yard work, building a fence, blah blah blah.
For those folks that have been following the openMobile forum, you know things have been coming along, even if a bit slowly.
The current build is 677 and I have to say it's a treat to explore.
Download link for rev677-windows.zip
If you want to get a feel for how things are going, download and play. However, take warning.....
There is not much more than media playing. The other plugins are still being updated to the new framework. But if you like cutting edge (bleeding edge?) download it and give it a look. You may even get some idea of how multi-zone will look.
Check these posts to play around with the multi-zone functionality.
And of course, last but not least, you will probably encounter some bugs, crashes, etc. This is not yet the public test we promised a few months back. But it should bolster the hopes of our faithful followers :-)
PS: Only the Windows version is functional right now. Linux is being worked on.

so is the music side of it completely functional? so i could setup playlists, and random/repeat play options?
that's really all i need so as long as the music side works, i'm happy
just thought of something-- if i donate to OM, does the dev's get it, or does it only go to justin-who-is-no-more?

It's looking really clean. Some of the fonts/buttons look a bit funny. Looks like this is going to have a ton of potential. I hope it turns out better in the end then CF and RR are. I'm having issues with both!
