Setting up openMobile on Debian 7.2

    Hi

I have been trying to setup om on Debian 7.2. My plan is to make it as fast and reliable as possible so I am only using blackbox and the necessary packages to make it run. After some tinkering and searching I have got it to install but when I try to run it it fails.

The output as I run it in a terminal as root:
    Code:
    root@debianbilpc:/opt/openMobile# mono ./Open\ Mobile.exe
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 153 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 34 ()
Serial number of failed request: 68
Current serial number in output stream: 67

I have checked that dbus is runing. Is there still something that I need to install? Is there a complete list of dependencies somewhere?

The installation is on a VirtualBox vm at the moment. OpenGL is runing. Checked with globs that it actualy works correctly.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Peik

    Hello Peik,

Glad to see that your'e testing OM. What version of OM are you testing? The later unreleased versions needs some update to make them fully Linux compatible but the previous official release should work on Linux.
I did make it work on Ubuntu as described here http://www.mp3car.com/openmobile/147...on-ubuntu.html but Linux is not my strong side so I'm afraid I can't help out too much. Hopefully some of the other guys on the team can jump in here to help out.

    Cheers

I do have plans to make it work with Linux but I am so swamped with school work, work and life I can't realistically look at it until next summer. I am assuming with you mentioning Virtual box are you trying to get it to run under a Linux VM or Windows VM?

I am hoping to get it to run with Android as well as I found a solution that should work but waiting until summer won't be a bad thing since the solution is still under development but should be much nicer by next summer.

When I do this I will be installing a known linux compatible version to ensure the dependencies are correct then go with the newer version and tweak whatever needs to be done. But as I said I have no time to do this right now.

I have tested with the new builds with no luck. They fail with the message plattform not supported. The on that the dump is from is 8. I have followed all the differnet instructions on the forum but this is the ressult. The instuctions for ubuntu are no longer valid. Tested them on 12.04 LTS and 13.10. Work on neither.

My plan is to have a PC with in the car that does navigation, music and video plus maybe someting else. It would allso work as a DLNA server so that others in the car can listen to music and watch movies on there smartphones at the same time. I know it would be easyer and cheaper to buy an android tablet for that but that is no challenge. I have got couple of computers and screens for free that I will start from. Problem is that the computers are not ment for incar use so needs som tinkering to make them work.

    Welcome Peik.

I also am not a Linux guy. But am interested in the same question Rod asked: You mention running OM in a VM. Is the VM your Linux, or is your VM a Windows machine?
