2009Prius: my stuff: http://icculus.org/obdgpslogger/ may also be of interest.

Thanks! I did see your software but the "GPS" part got me confused since my car does not have a built-in GPS. Do I need a GPS for your software to work? Can I customize the gauges to get specific hybrid car parameters such as HV battery SOC and inverter coolant temperature? How about trip MPG and tank MPG? Thanks!

The gauges are honestly hokey at best, but they work. It wouldn't be hard to modify them to get different parameters out [actually, it's really easy if you're willing to edit source, since I do go through a central point deciding which parameters show].

I actually got halfway through adding hybrid battery voltage to this list of supported PIDs last night.

I guess another way to look at it is "it may not meet all your needs yet, but it's a hell of a lot closer than anything else if you're in the realm of I was even thinking about writing the software myself". Mainly I latched onto your phrase "and record" because I think I do that better than anyone else right now :-D

OK you got me hooked. How do I continue from here? I only have Windows laptop, not OSX nor Linux. For OBD to USB would
    ElmScan Compact 5 USB
    http://store.mp3car.com/ElmScan_Comp..._p/com-101.htm
    or
    OBDLink Multiprotocol
    http://store.mp3car.com/OBDLink_Mult..._p/com-100.htm
    work? Thanks!

I currently use an OBDLink for most of my development. I don't actually own an elmscan5 to test against yet, although I see no reason it wouldn't work.

I have checked obdgpslogger with cygwin fairly recently and it worked fine.

This is a long shot, but if this is still being actively developed, I'd love to help. I'm an MIS student, and have a strong Windoze/MacOS/Linux background and am becoming a better programmer by the day.
