Hibernation file on a different partition?

    Hi all,

My pc is requiring about 1GB to hibernate, and unfortunately, that's about how much room I have left on my system drive.

My question is, is it possible to use the data partition of my harddrive for the hibernate file? (hiberfil.sys I believe is the name of it). I would think there would be a way to do this through the registry maybe?

    Thanks.

Never tried this, but would a link work? make a link called hiberfil.sys that connects to the actual one somewhere else?

To actually change the location you'd have to change something in NTLDR as well, so it seems it'd be a tat tricky.

Some sort of hard NTFS link might work...?

Hmmm... messing with NTLDR would be a bit scary to me. I'll tinker around though.

If you really need the space then go with 256 or 512mb ram.
Hibernation file will be the same size as the ram.

I decreased my ram from 1gb to 512mb, and it not only saved the space, but also greatly decreased my resume from hibernate time.
