can i have a Custom OS, for example Centerfuse (Google it if you dont know) and launch Windows form that? so say your just in the car going from place to place, you just use Centerfuse, but if your going on a long drive or plain on using windows can boot windows?
Just make centrafuse your shell, then you will boot directly into it.
Search the forms for "boot" and "front end" for how to.............
Just FYI, Centrafuse is a program, not an OS.

To expound on what GreatWhite said...
If you make Centrafuse (note that it's not Centerfuse, which is a punk band) your shell, you can setup EXPLORER.EXE to laucnch as an external program, giving you access to full-on Windows functionality for the times when you need it.
Be aware that there is likely some functionality you may lose if you make the front-end software your shell.
OK.
First, please learn how to spell or at least pay attention to what you type. I case you don't know there are a lot of very educated people on this board. Proper grammar and spelling will go a long way towards getting answers here.
Second, why would you want to do this? Are you under the impression that you will decrease boot times?
If so, I'd look elsewhere than writing an entirely new OS. Most boot time is "eaten up" in the POST, something the OS has nothing to do with. Windows can be made to boot fairly quickly if configured correctly.
Since you're asking such basic questions, I'm guessing you lack the skill to write an OS. Nothing personal, it's just that an OS is a huge project; very few people could do this without a large conglomerate behind them. So the subject of your post is moot.
If you intend to use any of the popular front ends, be aware they run on windows. A different OS would necessitate a new front end. You may be able to use boot camp (as in MAC) or some other software, but a custom OS would require custom software.
Unless you're far more talented at programming than it appears (or you have more cash lying around than you know what to do with), I'd stick to streamlining windows or the suggestions mentioned above.
So, to your original question:
possible?
Yes.
Practical?
No.
Again, nothing personal here.
Cheers

I think he got a little twisted up in his question/answers.
Originaly what I thought the OP meant was "is there a way to boot into Centrafuse and still have access to Windows".
I believe the "set up explorer as an external app" comment above solved that msytery.
If not, then its me who is lost . ..![]()
PDP1170/TRS80/Atari800XL/Amiga500/286/486/P2/P4/C2D still a newb (but an old newb, been doing this a while) working my way up to "Complete Newb"
Switch between operating systems? Vmware?
Old Systems retired due to new car
New system at design/prototype stage on BeagleBoard.
If you're asking if this is possible, then you probably don't have the skills, backgound or expertise to pull it off.
Windoze is an OS. Linux is an OS.
Yes, you can use emulators in Linux to run Windoze in a Linux environment. You can also setup a dual-boot using LILO or another boot loader.
ok... so you cant boot in one OS and then END that OS and Boot Another OS... got it...
