    vLite works with Windows 7 (X86 7048)

Just for kicks, I decided to try and load my W7 setup files in vLite, and vLite took it without *****ing...NICE!

I'd like to see how 7 'handles' with it vLited down to basics, compared to Vista and XP.

I'm gonna try slimming it down and test it on Sun VirtualBox...

I'd imagine you're going to run into trouble somewhere because while Vista and Windows 7 are similar, there are definitely some differences in there that will mess up vLite.

Yeah I've read of successes with it as well, but imo it's a moot point since it's still beta and some "features" of Win 7 still haven't been implemented yet.

What's interesting, is it seems to recognize the components in the W7 ISO...in otherwords, it's actually reading the ISO and configuring to match...it's not basing it off a 'set list' of components like if it was for Vista and nothing else...i.e. it's showing W7 only services in the config options, not just Vista services.

I built an Lite ISO with it without any problems...now to install it.

Hmmm...during setup, it told me there were no 'images' available, i.e. Profession, Home, Enterprise...
I compiled the ISO from HomeBasic, which might not be available in the 7048 package...
I'm going to redo the Lite ISO built off the full, Ultimate edition...

    Okay...fixed...
Compiled the Lite image off of Ultimate Edition instead of basic...

I think the 'features' for W7 are complete at this stage...
We're going to see anything new when it goes gold.

But the whole idea of this is to see if it can be done, and to test the performance of Lite W7 compared to Lite XP, and also check compatibility and functionality for the CarPC

Hmm... afaik they haven't implemented the SSD detection and optimization yet.

Functioning well in VirtualPC! I don't think some of the service disabling in vLite 'took' properly however...and some were simply greyed out...
Running extremely quick and smooth for a virtual machine.

Just not sure if I want to implement it on the carPC though...it's a lot of work...I'd want a clean install instead of an upgrade...
Not to mention it's beta and unlicensed

I can see me running it in the car though, in the future...
