OK, i see. So is the general consesis go for a stripped version of XP, minlogon it, and then EWF and HORN it.
I agree, that is so over kill. Powering the thing reliably will also be an issue.
I use a semi stripped down version of XP. I only removed the language packs. The best way to get fast boot times is to tweak the OS, which has been discussed in the forum. Infact here is one link: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/oper...-msconfig.html
EWF and HORM are awesome because if anything goes wrong, you simply reset and the PC will go back to the original state. Same thing if you get a virus, simply turn off the PC and turn it back on and the virus is gone. On my main system I didn't like the idea to writing to the RAM because I use alot of the RAM for graphics, so that system was only tweaked and gets good boot time (about 20 seconds or less), even though I have 26 USB devices connected to it.
Now my setup is also going to have 6 additional PC connected, basically one for each passenger. i am going to use EWF and HORM with those, because I want to be able to simply turn them off and on since they use a adapter like a laptop. This way if the passenger messes up on his unit or I decide to simply shut off those units, I can right away. Bad thing about EWF is that if you install something while EWF is on, then it wont save. If you forget and decide to install say adobe reader, then power off, when you turn it back on, adobe will not be there because it was written to RAM.
NLite is very easy to use, it can also slipstream service packs. My Windows XP CD was like before SP1, and my PC didnt like it at all. Once I used Nlite to take out the language packs, automatically enter my CD key and slipstream SP3, I had no issues ever again.
So you have a Quad Core in your car? What do you do in your car, calculate trajectories of asteroids in a neighboring galaxy? LOL, just kidding. I'm curious to how your powering it, and how your cooling it, if its in your car. My install is about the most massive and a quad core would still have been over kill.

is that easy enough to setup? thanks!
how about igo8 on centrafuse? check out this thread for files and details. takes a little work to get it working, but well worth it. i also have garmin mobile pc "embedded" in centrafuse, but prefer igo8 for it's built-in automatic keyboard and smoothness.
