Windows XP Embedded,Win7, or Linux?
I've been wanting to redo all the software on my CarPC for a while now. I can get a free copy of Windows XP Embedded and Windows 7 Professional through my school (don't care if the XPe image has a time limit or not because I can just make a new image if it does). Linux, naturally, is free. Right now it takes about 1 minute from power to usability with TinyXP.. I'd like to decrease that as much as possible. I have quite a few devices.
Here's what I use now that I can think of:
RoadRunner (Outdated version, don't remember which)
Older version of Winamp
BU353 GPS Unit/w iGuidance 3
7" Lilliput usb touchscreen(works on and off with Xenarc controller)
Outdated Netgear 802.11b USB wifi dongle
IDE CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive
Wireless USB Mini-Keyboard
PS2 Touchpad Mouse
As it's obvious, it's time to at least update my software. What is everyone's recommendations? Also, I can keep iGuidance3 or get MapPoint2009/2004 through my school for free.
I'm trying to do this as cheaply and efficiently as possible.
