Anyone been able to get EWF to work with an OS running on Microsoft Virtual PC 2005 ??
the NTLDR is not there, and I think its because VPC is doing some crazy things to get the OS to think its running on a real machine and has full control over the machines hardware...
Also, how much faster does a machine boot using EWF ?? what are the gains to writing the data to RAM instead of the HDD (like normal) I'm theorizing the gains are around 2-5 seconds ?? If so, then my OS should be booting around 40 seconds (keep in mind this is in VPC so I think I'll gain some time when running on my real carpc)

EWF isn't meant for speed, but to protect the volume from writes. It could potentially increase speed since the drive isn't physically writing anything to disk. Regarding NTLDR, try changing your Explorer properties to show hidden files, then you'll see NTLDR and you'll then be able to replace NTLDR with the EWF NTLDR. VPC doesn't do anything with the files on your VM, it's just a virtualization software.
lol i mentioned that the other day...see where it got you man! stupid period![]()
CarPC install is starting to come along again...
Thanks for the response, I know EWF isnt meant for speed but where it changes the system configuration to write "changes" to RAM instead of the Harddisk I'm assuming that this will speed the boot up a bit because as we all know RAM is a abit faster than a HDD..
Also yea.. that was the first thing I tried... setting my explorer to view all folders.. and honestly NTLDR isnt there, I might be missing something and I know that the OS shouldnt run w/o it.. but I also know that the OS is running on VPC and that may affect the way the OS boots.

It's there man otherwise the system won't boot. There's no difference in booting an OS in VPC or VMWare vs booting it on a physical PC. As long as you have "Show hidden files and folders" selected it'll be in the root of your boot drive.
