    autorun hell

ok, i have a usb external HD (seagate), very nice btw i can stick it in my pocket.
anyway, im trying to get the autorun feature to perform the same task each time i insert the disk without asking me any damn questions.

Now i remember there used to be a checkbox in the window that pops up, saying to "perform this task each time" but for some reason this option is now gone, i never see it and whenever autorun happens it allways asks me what i want to do with mixed content. Huge pain in the ***!!!

here is the window that pops up (attatched)

and the highlighted menu item is what i want to happen everytime without asking me if i want to do it.

    any ideas are appreciated, thanks

Not sure if this will work but you can try. My Computer -> Right Click on the drive -> Properties -> AutoPlay -> Select Mixed Content and select the action.

i tried that but the action that is highlighted in the screen shot is only available in that window, its not in the list of actions in the autoplay properties.

    no dice,
most of those tools are made to help with the creation of the autorun.inf files, i have that part taken care of. My issue i think is with windows and it prompting me to answer questions when i plug in the drive.
that app APO, only works with usb flash drives. The drive i have is a usb hard drive 60GB.

    hello liquid_smoke,

APO does run on HD USB drives. Try it!

i did try it, its kind of weird though, not exactly what i expected. But.. the drive in question oddly enough when i stick it into my other computer it autoruns fine without asking me any questions so i know its not how the drive is setup, its this PC thats doing it.
