    TinyXP on CF

I am getting ready to move my TinyXP install to the CF card. I moved the paging file to another drive and I am not using hibernate. Is there any other windows files I need to worry about or move? I still feel the OS writes a lot to the drive when shutting down... Is there anything I am forgetting?

Well, I tried minlogon but the SlimServer software needs an profile that isn't the default (I believe being logged on as the system account will only use the default profile but someone correct me if I'm wrong). Its not a big deal it only knocked my boot time down from about 30sec to about 25sec.

My big problem is that EWF is really screwing up my system. Its causing everything to run very slowly. I'm not sure why and I'm not sure how to even diagnose the problem so if anyone can give me some tips I'd appreciate it. The only thing I can think is that when I first did the EWF install I put the ewf.sys in the system32 folder instead of the system32\drivers folder. So when I ran the ewf.reg it was in the wrong place. I then got a endless reboot, hooked the drive up to another system, fixed the error and booted up again. All seemed well but the system was struggling something fierce.

I'm going to try again with a fresh install tomorrow. Any tips let me know.
    Thanks

well....EWF just forwards writes to RAM. How much RAM do you have? You should be notified if you're running out of available memory, but normally EWF should improve performance since your HDD isn't even writing to the disk.

Only 128mb RAM but I'm only running TinyXP Rev 4 and SlimServer. I also have a paging file on drive d:

    SF,
Thanks for your responce. I upgraded my ram to 256, removed the paging file from drive D: and now everything is running smoothly. The only problem I am having is that when the computer boots it runs checkdisk. I have removed bootstat.dat like in the posted directions.
    Thanks
    Jason

    make sure to clear out

    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager]
    BootExecute=""
(and also remember to commitanddisable EWF before making any changes, then enable and reboot).

    Thanks, I'll fix that key.

I'm almost done with the setup but does anyone know how to have a program start up when a usb drive is plugged in?

Well I fixed the key... Thank you

I found a little program called APO USB Autorun. It runs an autorun.inf file on the root of a USB drive. It works great.

Afew last tests and I'll be ready to move the install to the CF.

Thanks for all your help so far

I'm using an 1gb Sandisk Ultra II (I think) 8 months ago when I bought it the Extreme series was still expensive. I would have gone with the Extreme III if it had been cheaper at the time.

I'm still having problems getting the External 2.5 drive to initialize on boot up. TinyXP recognizes it in Disk Management but its not initialized. The only why I have found to get it a drive letter is to unplug and replug in the drive. I am going to try a different drive enclosure (when it come, I just ordered it today) but does anyone else have any ideas?
