nLite issue while trying to install new software

    Install Shield.
Error writing to the temporary location.

    What would cause this?

I have an nLite version of Windows running with all kinds of optimizations. I'm curious to know if this error message is indicitative of anything specific that I might be able to fix without a fresh install.

    Anyone?

Older versions of the Installshield are 16bit applications. If you've removed 16bit app support then the installer will not work. Not sure what error you'll get though...

    thanks for the reply.

Since I made an install disk using nLite, and didn't just install windows THEN nLite it, I'm guessing that going back in and enabling 16 bit app support would be a tad difficult?

You'll pretty much need a fresh XP install if that's the problem. I have a 10 gig partition on my carpc that I use to test new nlite images. Basically I have my current working image with applications on one partition, my media files on a second partition and a test image on a third partition. If I like the way my test image is working it becomes by working image.

Others use virtual machines to test their images. I think VMware is the name of one program that allows you to do a virtual system install within the framework of your current OS, basically a windowed OS of sorts.

This was a PC that I built for a friend like 2 months ago.

He's finally gotten the Focal Dual Monitor amplifiers in, which have a built in processor and can be tuned via the computer.

He went to install the software and ran into this problem.

He's coming back into town tomorrow, so I can give him a copy of XP.
