I came across this new distribution of XP on TPB a little while ago and he just released his SE (second edition). Updated are slipstreamed through July 11 and a bunch of other little tweaks are already done to bump up performance. I'm running it on my Mac Mini dual core which I've yet to put in the car, but it seems like a pretty good start for optimization.
Also allows for installation to USB stick, nifty.

Interesting... wonder if the constant paging will nuke your thumbdrive though?

Downloaded, Burned .iso to CD, installing as we speak....it hated my Centron thumb drive it would recognize it but couldn't format it. it has no problems with my Apacer and it's about 55% completed. the iso is kind of big (498mb) so you might want to shoot for a 1 gig USB thumb drive or an external HD or maybe use isobuster to get rid of the extra apps included with it which would shrink it down to about 330mb
F3rr3r - How the Performace - Let us know.. its always easy to change the cdkey to your own valid one, id like to know how performance is first before i format my carpc.

it's gotten to the GUI portion of the install where it would normally explain all the new features of windows XP blah blah blah and has a minutes remaining counter at the bottom, except with this version the gui has been edited with much more interesting information.....I gotta say it's pretty funny. I'm concerned that the startup times are going to be really slow with a thumb drive because the install is taking forever. It might be better to just go the external HD route instead...which is still not a bad idea since most external HDs are 12V powered and when you want to edit a .ini or add movies/mp3s all you have to do is take it into the house and plug it into your main computer I have the luxury of having 2 identical PCs one for the car and one for the house (not main computer) so i can boot it up without worrying about hardware conflicts
Can some1 tell me exactly what this is? IS it like an nLite version of XP? Faster speeds? Can you install i t on a regular HDD?
