Here's the updated albums section! Finally figured out how to get stupid Flash to load images inside clips. It's a pain!

Another picture update. I have "button hold" actions now, so that if you press the stop button it will send a stop, but if you hold it down, it will clear the playlist!
I also added a little side frame for the albums. It gives you the option to view the songs, play the whole album, or add it to the playlist. I will have to add some animation now so that when you press "view songs" it will shift the display out of the way and show the song list...

If you look in the bottom right of the last picture, you can see the system CPU and RAM usage. I figured that'd be handy to troubleshoot in the car when stuff is running poorly.
I spent the last few hours finalizing my (irritating) inertia drag menu. Now, you can open up many artists at once, and then click the artist again to remove the album listing so it doesn't take up space. That was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
I think in the future I will probably try to clean up my code. Right now it's very messy because I wasn't sure what I was doing a year ago when I started. Now I just added onto it so that it would be functional -- it's not very proper. IF I ever get around to improving it, I'll make it nice and structured by keeping a list of artists and multi-dimensional arrays to hold the albums as a property OF the artist.
/end nerd rant.
POINT IS: CPU/RAM usage works, artist/album list works.![]()

nice work Colin, I may have to have a closer look at this.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story
Thanks for the interest guys, guess I forgot to add a subscription to this thread so I never saw comments!
As of now there's no download link. I'm still working pretty hard on this to even get music working. It also expects the environment to be set up exactly like I have it, though there is an INI file for configuration.
I can honestly say that the music is almost done. I have a track listing right now working but you can't click on any of the tracks yet. Once that gets implemented, the music section is "done" for the time being. I'll have to be sure to add playlist control in the future (the software is all there, just no buttons for it yet).
I'll add source switching soon too. Right now, MP3s are all I care about. iPod functions are implemented too, once I put in the playlist and source switching. The software is current capable of reading an iPod library from the device and playing songs off of it!
After the music goes in, I'm gonna start on the HD radio. It's mostly done, and I believe the software is written for that as well. I just need to work on the interface a lot.

Colin,
If work on the interface means updating graphics in Flash, gimme a holler and I'll see what I can do. I'd be happy to pitch in!

Colin, I'm quite keen on an eye for detail myself so I know what you mean. But as with any project I've worked on, more than one person's input has always made the outcome worth any and all pains during the development. So I expect you to come back to me with "not this way, that way" and stuff like that, but I suppose once we get to know each other's working styles these things will become a thing of the past pretty quickly. Lemme just update my Flash from CS3 to CS4 (or if I can still open your FLA in CS3, I guess no worries then) and lemme know where you want me to start and we're good to go!
Cheers mate.
