The first time you run it asks you where the skin is, but where does it store this value? I want to change it now that I have selected a permanent directory but can't figure out for the life of me where it is kept.Originally Posted by CdRsKuLL
When you first install it it asks you.. so I remember reading.. This all sounds very good, but way over my head. Trying to think what can I do to help.. There's alway the file sharing hub thats running.. ;-) Also I liked the way in frodo you could select 2 different skins a day and a night, not just a gamma adjust.. anyway I will keep watching to see if I can lend a hand in anyway.

I think HU deserves a new forum/section.
I also agree with a prev post about a system status page.. with temps of motherboard fan speeds, space on harddrives.. everything you see really when you do a /stat on irc if you know what I mean. This would be a greate idea. Also one of the main pains with mediacar when doing skins was there are 4 to do for each menu. If its possible to cut these down to just off and on, this would save loads of time for skinners.. ok you would lose your hover action, but if you are using a touchscreen this wouldnt really matter.
I like yhe four states, true the hover doent really do anything for touch, but not evryone uses touch screen. I vote leave it like it is!Originally Posted by CdRsKuLL

Hey guys. Sorry, I've been away from the forums for a while, but I will address everyone's comments soon.
In the meantime, I've had some time this week (for the first time in almost a month) to work on headunit. Here is the latest Windows version (Linux version will be ready later today or tomorrow):
headunit-0.2.exe
Comments/bug reports appreciated. Note: I've only worked on the audio portion in this release. Next, I will do Video.
Few things still missing from audio:
1. Reading ID3 tags. (first on my TODO list)
2. Visualizations
3. Equalizer
I will do all of these before moving on to the Video.

There is a new configuration dialog (thanks to knobby for getting started on this) that lets you change settings at any time. You can get to it from the main program by clicking on the "Appearance" button. Here you can re-sync the database, change your paths, change which file extensions are stored in the database, and choose which skin you want to use. Skins go in their own folder under the skins directory.
millec, the volume and other state information (current song, etc...) are now saved and restored properly. Also, all of your configuration problems should be addressed by this new config dialog.
cdrskull, that's a good suggestion, and it will be VERY easy to change the skinning code so that if the ON or DOWN files are missing, it will use the OFF file.

Great! Thanks for the link. Now, I just need to buy an XMPCR.Originally Posted by aultl
The current size is hardwired to 800x480, but I will add the width and height as an option in the Configuration dialog so you can use any sized skin. Thanks for reminding me.Originally Posted by millec

Won't df -h work for the hard drive space information? I'm not sure how to get fan information as I havn't bothered with that in linux yet. Maybe use some stuff from the uptime command?
