Wow, very nice. Is it going to be skinnable? I really dig the setup you've got going.

I'm sorry guys...i got into huge problems trying to get it to run on systems that didn't have vb6 already installed. I'm still working on the problems, and will let you know when i get it all sorted out.

It is possible to skin the buttons, but you'll need to re-create well over 100 .jpgs, and make sure they are the right size, etc, so if you haven't anything to do for a while, yes it is possible

The whole interface is basically the way i like things. If you like it too, that's cool. If you don't, then you may want to look at other solutions. I am open to suggestion, just don't get your hopes up

Alright guys. I've got a preview release ready for download. It's only got the MP3 player working at this point. It also only has the Pontiac Source screen, although I will be creating a more generic one in the near future.

When you download it, unzip it to the root of C:\ and read the readme in the CarPC 7.1 folder. If you don't read the readme, and get error messages, i can't help you. There's setup info, and a basic usage guide as well. One thing I forgot to mention in the readme is that you can change the Vis by closing the CarPC program completely, opening Media Player, playing a song and changing the vis settings there. You can't just change the vis, there has to be a song playing in order for it to write the value to the registry. When i figure out how to change the registry values, i may be able to allow selectable visualizations. Also forgot in the readme, the Vis settings in the Options screen don't do anything yet, so don't get mad that you can't make 'em work. MPEG and XM features are next on my list. This is a complete re-write from the ground up of the code, which is why i've only got the MP3 player working so far. I'm trying to make most if it reuseable, so the MPEG player should be about a week and the XM a little later than that.

Please note that i do this in my spare time, so if i'm a little late getting an update out, please don't think that I'm ignoring you or the project. This software is going in my car too, which means if it's not up here, I'm still getting it working/debugging/writing etc.

Lemme know what you guys think, and go easy....this is my first public software release

    On with the pics:

    Download is below

    Another Update:

Got the MPEG player working, but to to major issues with my CarPC, and performance probs with video playback, this one is use/try at own risk:

    Extract and replace the CarPC7.exe

    This is looking very good!

Others might want a more, but for me this is about all that I would need in a car computer.

I only had a chance to try it quickly, been very busy at work, so this might be something I did wrong. I located a subdirectory with .mp3 files, but they did not show up.

Before you waste your time looking into this, let me try it again later tonight.

Your app is on my laptop and I am trying to get a project taken care of which had to be almost totally redone.

    Did you do the graphics?

An BTW, was able to get XM working. Thanks for your help!!

    Walt
