Well, as some of you may know, I've been working on a frontend now for quite some time, and in my last computer crash I lost alot of stuff. So I gathered up what I had that was useful, and chucked the rest and I'm starting to code from scratch. I have a couple of questions though, and I'd appreciate your opinions :)
First off, are visualizations really important? Has anyone picked one frontend over another because of vizualizations? Are they worth the performance hit on slower/embedded systems? If I don't include them, will I be turning potential users away?
Second, if it meant better performance, would users be willing to install a certain version of Media Player? I'm thinking about goin to the Media Player Classic (which is installed with the K-Lite codec pack) for MP3/Vids/CD/DVD assuming it will support DVD. I'm finding that embedding WMP9/10 in VB is chewing up WAY too much CPU time during video playback and really causing poor performance. I'm hoping that the older version will speed things up a bit.
Third, are playlists and playlist management necessary? I'm sure I could make playlists happen, but i don't know if it's worth the trouble. I know i couldn't be bothered making playlists, but some really like them.
Fourth, should I even bother with what others want, should I just taylor it to my needs and if others like it good for them?
Any thoughts are appreciated :)
