Flactric - Program to manage and clean up large music libraries on windows

    Hi all,

I'm a carputer user of 2+ years who has been finding it increasingly annoying and time-consuming to keep my windows carputer's media library in sync with my home server's very large and very frequently updated one.

To that end, I wrote a piece of .NET software, Flactric, to help with that task, as well as performing some library cleaning operations - deleting various types of junk files that often come with digital downloads, checking for possible hierarchy inconsistencies, batch-tagging, etc.. It also has a touchscreen mode ^_^

I think it's at a point where it's getting pretty polished, so I've made it available for download. I'd love to hear some thoughts on it. Before starting development I did a bit of hunting around for a program that did all of the above with a reasonably simple interface but came up short, though if there's something already out there that fills this role. I'd love to hear about it too :P

Very nice app, I too could never find a small, fast tool for music files. 1 small item I have found with folder hierarchy it shows folder deeper than \artist\album I have albums with cd1/cd2/cd3 which are the problem if they just have music files inside that artist/album/files its fine almost need a artist/album/files +- album/files Hope this helps and thanks for this very useful app. On a side note I see you do some java stuff, you looking for any side jobs in java? Yeah, I ran into issues with a few of my albums being broken up into CD1/CD2/CD3, etc. My personal solution was to just take them out of individual CD folders and have them all in the Album folder (where there were filename conflicts, I just added the CD information to the filename, i.e. "album cd1 track name.flac"). Fortunately this was only the case for 3 (I think) albums, so it wasn't a huge issue for me personally.

Would you care to explain in more detail what you think the solution would be, though? Do you mean giving the option of allowing for multiple hierarchies simultaneously?

RE Java; I've got far too much on my plate at the moment to take on any more jobs, unfortunately

Glad you like it Let me know if you run into any issues or if you have any ideas for it
