If they are in your car, I think it is considered a public place, so would you need to let them know they are being recorded? Also, if it is not considered public, would you also need to announce to thieves in your home that you have a security camera? Sorry to go off topic a bit, just curious since I live in CA...

Yeah this is off topic, but could be relevant to some who use this in the most bizarre circumstances....

The CA law is the wiretap law. 7 states have a two party consent' law that is stricter than the national wiretap law. Since this law focuses on audio, there is no distinction between public/private place. Breaking this law is a felony in CA. Hope that helps.

There is no way the inside of my car is a public place. so no warning necessary.

It would be funny to prosecute someone and then have them counter-sue you for recording them breaking into your car... LOL

Would it be possible to monitor, and log data from a comport [gps] while locked? the way i would envision it, for instance would be if the speed exceeds 10mph, it would start logging to a file, which could be played back in iguidance/destinator/whatever..?
