What is iGpatch?

Lots of people like to hack up the iGuidance exe file with reshacker and other fun modifications, but of course they cant distribute the exe file because its copyrighted. So it occurs to me, why not distribute iGuidance patches? The patches would only contain the changes that you have made to the binary, not the actuall copyrighted material.

So thats what I am doing. I wish to make a project where we post patches of our customized iguidance.exe files with whatever modifications we make (like larger zoom icons or altered arrows in the driving field).

In this package is a script to modify both iguidance 2.0, 2.1, 2.1a and 2.1.1 to remove the menu and the mute icons from the map display. Simply run the script "patchIg" and it will apply the patch to whatever you specify in the location.inf file and make a new iguidancemod.exe file.

I invite you iguidance hackers to take a look at my little script and post any patches you make as well. Please post the patch with a description of what it does and what version of iguidance it works with (patching will fail on wrong versions of iG)

Note that this patching tool is also a part of iGmod (much like iGzoom is for skinbedder) so if your wondering why the batch file makes a runner.ini file, thats the reason. The file is for iGmod.

Works great, now just get rid of the word Menu where the button was.
Use ResHack, open iGuidancesmod.exe, expand String Table open Table 377
and change string 6030 from "Menu" to " " and the word Menu has dissapeared from the Map.

whats the significance if the "a" in ver. 2.1a? i only have 2.1 and it wont let me apply the patch...

Just a different version. I dont have exe 2.1 yet, sorry.

Updated patcher script.

Now supports versions 2.0 (I think) and 2.1, and removes the white "menu" text and the 2 zoom icons.

Alright, I updated http://igmod.iamjeremy.com/IGpatch.rar with a change to the script so you can write in the location of your iguidance file into location.inf. So open that up and make sure your install of iG matches what the location.inf file says.

works for 2.0 but the red box for clicking exit or cancel is also gone

i must be doing something wrong. the location in the .inf is the same place as my file. but it still says it cant locate the needed file...what am i doing wrong?
