No interest???? Man I think this is cool. I can see using something like this to automate some of the carpc functions.
That was the intention but due to the lack of interest I had not taken it any further. I shall try look into making some changes at some point.
BTW, my webserver is down at the moment (got hacked)... so am having to do a rebuild.

So..instead of you trying to find a wireless hub (starbucks, panera) and donating time to physically searching for a connection to update software, devices ad such…it automatically looks for a connection and does what it needs to? sends out whatever email youve typed up, ect ect..all the stuff just waiting for a connection? that would be great. do buisness and then just pull out and drive and let the puter do the sending....
ive been looking for a program to do this.. thats my biggest problem with all the frontends weather section. U have to manually get the updates, and 99% of the time i never remember to get the updates before i pull out of hte house.
I wish i knew how to do fiberglass work...
Not sure if you have looked at this or not, but my first car pc install I use to run netstumbler. The software worked with the net card to auto sync make connection. Now I was running 98 at the time but I think that xp will auto an ip address.
Now, remember the old days when you had dialup, programs use to wait until you actually had a connection before they would process data. Could that backbone be used for this type of system?
the big question is....say your driving..and it picks up a signal for a good time...yyour driving and its doing its thing. but then you loose signal for a while and then pick up another signal...will it restart updates and sends or will it pick up where it left off? obviously if an email was in the mioddle of sending it would error....would it "OK" the error for you, the ntry resending again? and if youwere say 45 megs through a 70 meg DL...would it just pick up from the 45? im assuming it will all pick up where left off...i jsut didnt know how much programing you did for it
I would think this would be more application independant but I can't imagine that these genius programmers we have couldn't figure something out. They are good questions though.
this would be HUGE to us people that have weather, news and traffic incorporated into our skin. I'll take a look at the beta.
