Nope. The phonebook problem is releated to Nokia phones... sadly but true.
Use PBConverter to convert a exported CSV file into a PhoCo phonebook.
Or, if you have your contacts in Outlook (2000 and newer), write me a mail and I send you the beta of the upcoming verison. It support's an direct access to Outlook where you can read the contacts from and store them in PhoCo format.

PCSuite has no suitable interface... none of the thousands of PCSuite versions do

SMS should be working... if it isn't send me the logfile.

    1. I think you've got the wrong setting. It seems to be "SonyEricsson" instead of "Nokia" but that's not the main problem. Simply remove the <AdditionalInit> and <AdditionalDeinit> commands.
    2. Place the following in your <Communication> section:
    <IgnoreMS>True</IgnoreMS>

Then try again sending an SMS.
