Wherever you connect from the phone, your "Headset Profile" must be active, not you "Audio Gateway". The "Audio Gatway" belongs to another kind of audio transfer.
Usually, if you have the Widcomm stack, and your "Headset Profile" is enabled and you make a call, the connection is establishing automatically.

From the T68i it is important to do initiate the pairing from the phone (it's been discussed in the major thread, I think anywhere on page 25).

Ther is another possible reason: I've heard from thr German forum, that some dongles don't worlk properly with the "Headset Profile" but there is no clear reson for it.

A reason why it's working with your headset it, that the Nokia headset (afaik) uses the "Handsfree Profile" instead of the "Headset Profile".

my fault, it is dropping the headset... not audio gateway (I'm getting confused)... basically the little head with headset turns green, my phone says connected and then it drops.... sorry, I'll try to get my wording correct next time. But I'll mess around with it, if I can't get it working in the next few days I'll bug you more

Just an update, I've been doing a lot of research on my phone, first off the BT hardware is the same as a v600, and also being that I flashed my phone with the v600 firmware then flexed it... I'm positive that if the v600 works so does mine being the only difference in phone is fancy lights on the cover and a glare-resistant screen... all other hardware is identical... So basically now that I've flashed it... my phone is pretty much a motorola v600 without fancy lights on the front...

I've come to the conclusion that it must be something I'm missing on the machine configuration. As I said earlier, on both t68i and motorola v500/600 when I seek a handsfree device, it finds my computer, when I connect it succsesfully connects then after 3 or 4 seconds disconnects. It's done this on 3 different machines I've tested with 3 different dongles. Is there anything anyone can think of that I could have missed? Probably blatantly simple....

Just curious, I'm in the market for a new phone - it's like a baby v600, without the bluetooth... would the usb connection work for the v300?

on your Widcomm installation CD you'll find a tool named "BtServerSpylite.exe". Copy this one to your Widcomm directory, run it, save the log to a file then send me this file.
I'll take a look into it. Maybe there is a hint what the reason is.

Ok, the log looks pretty normal to me.

So I've tried the same with my T610 (to have something to compare with) and I figured out, that, if I do the same as you did (establishing a connection to the Headset Profile of the PC) over the phone's menu, it behaves just the same. After 3-4 seconds the connection will be disconnected automatically.

I'm not quite sure but I assume, that this is the regular procedure when no call is going on. With the T610 I know, it behaves totaly different when you're in a call.

Did you ever try to call your mobile from another phone?
In this case, it should connect (answer the call) automatically and the Headset connection should be stable during the call.

kicking myself now.... sorry... So I've been playing if I call my phone, and connect the voice gateway when I hear the call, everything works outside of phonecontrol. Inside phone control, I can connect via the dial-up networking gateway, however I have to manually start the dial-up networking session before opening phone control or I get a communication error. Once phonecontrol is open it'll pull the contacts, place calls, however, it won't answer incoming calls and when I place calls from within the app, audio never gets picked up by the PC.... I have to switch back to BT neighborhood, disconnect dial up networking gateway and connect via voice gateway.... So I'm guessing thats probably not how it's supposed to work right?

You're right, it's not...

For the "not answering calls" please send me the log, when you've got a call and click the "Accept" button.

Question: What happens when you don't run PhoCo and you get a call? Does the (PC) Headset connect automatically?

To me, it looks like your phone doesn't support two connections at the same time. This might be on purpose but I haven't heard this before.
I know, that the T610 does allow multiple connections but not to different devices (all connections must be made to the same device).

Regarding the problem that you have to manually start the Dial-Up session, please take a look into your registry under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\AutoConnect
There should be at least an entry with the service ID (e.g. "0005"). Services located here are supposed to connect automatically.
If your Dial-Up isn't there, you may set it up in the "Advanced Configuration".
