The USB Data cable for my phone just emulates a com port interface for the phone so the software just accesses the virtual comport and volla it works

The USB cable I have doesn't charge the phone off of USB, it has a little slot in the base of the plug for the normal phone power cable to plug into. Not sure if yours is like that.
Yes mine doesn't charge the phone either - and uses tons of battery when it's connected to GPRS. I've found through you can wire the charger lead to the 5V from the car PC (if you know what your doing)

the usb cables that charge are garbage from what i understand (at least the ebay ones). they send a higher voltage to charge which in turns ends up frying you're battery with time. if you plan on using your phone for anything other then your carputer (ie: actually talking on it) then dont use it. I'm going to use one simply beacuse I bought a 2nd gsm phone to keep permanently in the car for gprs access.

no idea but the v600 is overpriced. get the v525 with the v600 software upgrade. that's what i got and its identical to the v600 and 1/2 the price. actually only thing it doesn't have is a metal case (whoop dee doo) and the blinking coloured led lights on the outside.

    One phone, multiple computers

I've got myself an old t68i from Ebay, and have just ordered a BT adapter, and was wondering if it would be possible to get the phone to talk to two computers (using the same adapter though) with phonecontrol.

The reason being that the mobile has pretty terrible buttons, and texting is awkward, so if I can do it on the computer when I'm at home/work, then that will be much better than using the phone.

Also, it means I can leave PT running, and see when I come back to the office if i've had any text messages/phone calls without having to dive into the drawer/pocket of my jacket

If not, i'll use it purely in the car

there is some problem with either BT or Sony phones, but it seems to have issues with being paired with 2 computers, especially if both computers are using the same bt dongle. I tried to do this for weeks, but the end result would be that the phone would delete one of the computers as soon as i connected to the other one. So you end up pairing the computer and phone together everytime you try to connect.

The t68i also has bt issues that have been corrected in later versions/models of sony phones. I would dump the t68i and get a T610 or higher.

The T68i only cost me 25 from Ebay, so it's worth a shot. T610 are going for ~70-100, I'll just use it til I get a new phone on contract come April (why when i got it i didn't think of getting a BT enabled phone i don't know lol)

Oh well, it's coming tomorrow, so i'll see what happens Zorro has gone on holiday btw.
