The pairing with BT is done on BT id. I don't know what's the exact name, but it's a sort of mac address while the device name it's only for ease of use. When you pair one device to another and then move the dongle to another pc you'll find some problems, everything works , but sometimes you'll have to repair devices (easly done with a laptop/desktop but annoying in car).
My suggestion is to buy another dongle: I've class 1 in car and class 2 on my laptop.

On T68 side I don't know what kind of proglems he could have with multiple pairings, T610 works flawless.

...or it's dodgy drivers!

Got my Belkin F8T003 BT adapter today, and installed it from the CD on my laptop, then plugged it in. It wouldn't give the "My Bluetooth Places" box, it kept saying that there were no adapters installed. I could initiate a connection from the laptop to the phone, but not the other way round.

Went onto the Belkin website and there are newer drivers available, which I downloaded (33mb on a 256k connection took quite a while!

) and installed...still no difference

So, here's me thinking my t68i is going to be unusable in the car

After work, took the latest drivers out to the car, and installed them, then plugged the adapter in. Things looked better this time, it gave me all the options i've seen everywhere else saying I should have

Went into the phone menu, tried to initiate a connection, and low and behold, the carputer popped up a message saying "A new Bluetooth device is wanting to connect"

Finally!!

Entered the same passkey on both, and they were talking!

Told the computer to be an audio gateway, and all is good

All I need now is a microphone and to go and install PhoneControl

Moral of this story...I'm not sure whether it is SP2 or the drivers didn't install properly on my laptop the first time round, but on my carputer with SP1 it worked perfectly, first time

I'm doubly surprised, as the phone was made week 13 of 2002! The firmware is over 2 years old!

Was thinking this afternoon that I wasn't going to get it working with the phone, that the FW was too old...not the case it seems

Try uninstalling the drivers and download the widcomm drivers (universal)...

i still think that you suck, and everyone else too, who can use phone control. damn it i want to play too. ALTELL sucks..............

Service Pack 2 could be your culprit. My team (network engineers) found a bug with SP2 today, seems MS SMS doesn't like it at all. XP clients with SP2 installed can't download advertised apps from the SMS server.

I can't use phonecontrol too...
I get a blue screen whenever it tries to connect to the phone!!!
i've tried many phones and PCs!!!

I downloaded and installed SP2 on all my computers the night it was released. Well after discovering some of my apps now don't work (Dr. Divx and the MP3 Pro Encoder in Nero, just to name a few), I uninstalled it on all the computers. From what I've heard it is breaking all kinds of apps. I also heard that it was going to be re-released after Microshaft fixes some of the bugs... can anyone else verify this? Also, I don't like how it stripped out the version from the boot screen... when I installed it all my computers it just said "Windows XP", no more "Professional".
