    Yep, you made the fatal error of installing SP2, which (in my experience) completely hoses anything that deals with bluetooth.

    Microsoft (in their wisdom) have decided to completely take over all BT workings, and not give 3rd party (aka better) BT drivers/software a chance of talking to the hardware.

    I've experienced this on 2 computers with SP2.

    TBH, I can't see ANY advantages of SP2 on an in-car computer...hell, i can't see any advantages on a home computer, as I have another system sitting next to me that takes 10 mins (or more) to log on/off. It's a P4 2.4 with 512mb ram, and I swear it's slower than when I installed XP on a P133 with 64mb RAM!

    Garry, thanks for your swift reply.

    However, I use BlueSoleil with its own set of BT drivers. I can connect to the Fax port with Hyperterminal, so this seems to work OK. Other BT functions do too.

    Furthermore, if my problem would be Bluetooth related, wouldn't PhoCo simply give an connection error, not an application crash? It even crashes before writing the log file!

    Why don't you back-up and re-install. Even if you have some kind of internet hook up to your CarPC, tools like Zonealarm and Mcafee will offer more protection than SP2

    If it ain't broke......

    The funny thing on SP2 is, you never know what it does. I was also curious about it and installed it on a second machine which I use for testing and stuff...
    What I can tell you is: It's working!
    Ok, I didn't any long term tests, but it's running...

    So, the only advice I can give to you is, go to the MS Update site and look whether or not there is an update for the update...

    I also don't think that this is a problem with the BT driver from SP2... since they only will be activated if the setup doesn't find any active BT... but it seems to be a library which is needed by .NET 1.1

    SP2 removed, problem remains

    OK guys, I took your advice and removed SP2 from my system. Reinstalled .NET 1.1, SAPI 5.1 and the SP and PhoCo 1.3 but the error remains.

    As you can imagine, I'm lost. Any suggestions (exept the obvious total reinstall)? Thanx in advance!

    Did you check DirectX as well...? Install DirectX 9.0

    If this ain't working, visit the MS Windows-Update site once more and look out if they have something for you.

    I experience exact same problem with a W2K, SP4, have some problems in getting it to work, using Belkin dongle and Nokia 6600, when trying to do a manual dial, the error appears, don't have mRouter on this machine as it is my workmachine (using that for testing, way easier when u **** it up to go down and get a new mirror)

    But error remains, did finally get it started but still error, errorlog reads

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
    application or machine (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
    rather than being handled by this dialog.

    Hmm, seems I found the problem myself - when they do a mirror it seems they only include DirectX 8, will try to upgrade that and test again, sorry for the little confusion

    Maunal dial error appears on 1.2 and older if you don't have a valid phonebook.

    A "Application has generated an exception that could not ..." error point's to some missing stuff in the environment.

    Please download the "binaries only", copy them over and try it again then tell me the result.

    I did also reinstall 9.0b, and Windows Update offers only SP2...

    Zorro, I'll try the binaries too, or was that suggestion ment for WhiteWolf DK?

    What is it anyway with wolves, the Nokia 6600 and crashes? I feel a conspiracy theory coming up...

    BTW, is there a third-party remove tool to thouroughly clean up DirectX and .NET from my system? The system restore points from the SP2 install have already been deleted from my system.

    This error is only because of an missing phonebook (same old problem on Nokia S60 phones). If you place a dummy but valid phonebook into the inst. dir. it'll not crash anymore (I've attached one).
    This problem should have been solved by 1.3.

    I'm not aware of any tool doing such uninstall, sorry.

    Yes, you can try the "binayries only" too... but I'm afraid it won't change anything.
