Do not run the PBConverter.exe from your file browser but open a command shell from your "Programms->Accesories" menu and go to the PhoneControl directory.
Then take a look at my PhoCo website under "Documentation->a short refrence for..."
There is a step by step approach for converting CSV files into PhoCo phonebooks.

Hey guys and Zorro,

I'm not sure if i'm just blind or dumb, but caller id is not working for me with my Motorolla V525 (with v600 software upgrade, so its basically a v600). I have checked the documentation and searched the forums but I can't seem to find any information regarding this.

When I receive a call, the answer button lights up and I can answer it, but no caller information is displayed. When I connect to the phone with Hyperterminal and call it, only the RING command appears but the caller id string does not follow so I am assuming the problem is with my phone. But what I figured out is if the phone is ringing and caller id info is not sent with the RING string, you can still retrieve the id by retrieving the current call information with AT+CLCC while the phone is still ringing.

Zorro, if this is the case (caller id string not sent), any chance you can implement some kinda if statement in the RING event to send an AT+CLCC command to the phone to retrieve the caller id if it is not sent? Otherwise phonecontrol is (unfortunately) useless for me and I'm going to end up having to write my own just to get caller id working I doubt the functionality would be as good as yours.

Also just another note, I read somewhere on here that retrieving the entire phonebook with the motorolla/v600 phones is not possible. Phonecontrol had no problem retrieving my entire phone book. The only problem was that it listed all the numbers as mobile numbers so multiple contacts with the same name (ie: an entry for home, work and mobile but all listed as mobile) are messed up. Phonecontrol appears to display only the first record of a 'duplicate' entry so the other #'s (although not mobile) do not appear. I fixed this just by editing the XML file for the phone book.

Exactely this is meant with "not reading the entire phonebook". The reason is: Only the SonyEricsson will deliver all phonebook entries by using a trick. They append the type of the entry to the name e.g. "Zoran Horvat/M". The /M identifies the Mobile phone number. So they send each name multiple times with another identifier (this is because the GSM 7.07 doesn't recommend handling multiple numbers).
All other phones I've seen yet, don't do that but they will send the entry that you have marked as priority number (usually this is the mobile number).

If your V525 does send multiple entries they would have anything similar to reference what name is which number (home, mobile...). If that's true, please send me an excerpt from your phonepook readn with HyperTerminal. I will take a look on it.

Can some one PLS help me getting to ADD a ring tone for the incomming call. I am able to gt the voice identification and picture POP up on recieving a call but not able to get the PHONE CONTROL to ring a TONE when a call is recieved.

I could find the RINGTONE option in the CONFIG file but from here what do i do ?

Using Nokia 6600.

thanks ,most of the problem was in my inexperience with working in dos, phone book shows up correctly now.
btw the startac at command set @ http://ridge.trideja.com/wireless/atcommands
gives responses to almost all commands on my phone using hyperterminal

I know this link. Bryan posted this a couple of weeks ago.
Some of those commands are used in PhoCo but not all of them.

Simply place the reference to a WAV file within the tag. For example:
<Ringtone>sounds\phnring.wav</Ringtone>

You can do the same for a incoming SMS:
<SMStone>sounds\SMS.wav</SMStone>
