Hey guys, once one of you manages to do this could you post pinouts to pinouts??? I'm not rubbish at electronics but its a few years since I've done anything major so if one of you in the know could try and post I would be very appreciative!

Ok here goes, pinouts etc.
BTW cable from ebay cost me £4.19 inc postage. not bad uh?
if anyone is interested, there is one up for sale now

anyway back to the pinouts.
First of all, although the connection on the CARK-91 looks like a standard RJ45 connector, it is in fact a 10 pin connector. (so if you plan on using a RJ45 plug, you might need to cut two extra pin slides. (good news the wiring doesn't use them).
RJ45 plug is looking from top with the wire facing away from you (left to right). phone connector (ie same bit as is found on bottom on phone, as per DJSmiley's post on previous page.
Also note, the RJ45 connector is shielded and at the phone end it looks like the shield also connects to pin 9, which is GND so that's not a surprise.Code:RJ45 (8 pin)..............................................Phone 2 -------------------------------------------------------- 7 3 -------------------------------------------------------- 6 5 -------------------------------------------------------- 8 6 -------------------------------------------------------- 9 7 -------------------------------------------------------- 3 8 -------------------------------------------------------- 5
Hope this helps some of you.
PS have not tested the cable with carkit/phone and PC but will hope to over the weekend.

Anyway, let me know if you've tested it. I will do it otherwise as soon as I have received my cable
OK update time.
tried this out over the weekend.
Didn't seem to work. using laptop I can use phonecontrol to control the phone fine with just the normal lead connected, however when I connect the DAC-2 cable to the carkit I don't seem to have any control over the phone, further more I lose the sound and mike from the car kit.

Received my cable today (Regular shipping from UK to The Netherlands took some time). However, I ordered a DAU-9P cable, which doesnt seem to work with Phonecontrol (Nokia 6310i phone).Originally Posted by Enforcer
However, the cable itself works, i've tested it with Oxygen Phone manager. I've attached the cable to the 10-pin port (using a soldering iron) and it still worked with Oxygen, so that part seems ok, even with phone in the carkit and the cable connected to the DATA jack.
Now i've ordered another cable, (DLR-3P), lets hope that one actuallly DOES work with Phonecontrol.
DAU-9P works for the old 61xx series phobesOriginally Posted by DJSmiley
DLR-3P works for the 6210 and 6310 phones. I have both, tried the DLR-3P with the DAC-2 and the CARK-91, but got no joy, as above.
Just found this
The question
This question in an attempt to ask a member PG (Tas) about an archived submission on March 6, 2002 in regards to using a Nokia 6210, cark kit and laptop computer. Or if anyone else has some experience, post away! It says in his article that he used to have a Nokia 5110 phone, with a Nokia CARK-91 Car Kit, the DAU-9P data cable and the DAC-2 connecting cable to which worked ok, but when he upgraded to the 6210, he needed to purchase a DLR-3 data cable to use with the same setup. I'm just confirming that the DAC-2 cable, the cable that goes between the cark kit and the DLR-3 cable when the phone is in the cradle, does actually work with the later series nokia phone, as nokia has told me that it only works for the nokia 5110 phone while in the car kit. Many thanks.

Does your laptop have an IR port? The 6210 is IR capable. I use it with both Toshiba and Apple laptops. The drivers come with the phone but you can download them from the Nokia site. FollowUp 1 of 1 posted 16 Mar 2003

Thanks for you post. Yes, the laptop does have an IR port. However, I want to use the phone's data cabalities while in the cradle (for the power and the external antenna) and becuase the IR port is in the top of the phone and it's in the side of the laptop, a cable from the car kit's data port to the data cable to the laptop, is more user friendly! And you don't have to worry about it moving or holding it in pace, especially if your on the move. Thanks!

G'day Jeff I'll be interestted in what you find out as I have the same setup. When I purchased my 6210, I also bought a data cable (just data, not for car kit) from dik smith suitable for 6/5110, but it did not work. I'm assuming that the 6210 has more of the data electronics built into the phone. Let me know how you go Grinner FollowUp 1 of 1 posted 17 Mar 2003

That is true, the data cable for the 5110/6110 and 6150 (the DAU-9P) doesn't work with the newer mdoel nokias - 6210, 6250, 6310 and 6385. The Dick Smith data cable is an equivalent of the DAU-9P, but as far as I know, they don't have the generic
Looks like I have to dig out my old NK702 / 6100 equivalent
Don, I have used Nokia Data Suite with my 6150 (fancy 5110). Unfortunately the 5110 series family must use Nokia Data Suite (mine was ver. 3.0a, downloadable from www.nokia.com, however you will need an original ver 3.0 for the download to work), with the DAU-9P cable. I use the CARK-91 Car Kit and with the addition of a DAC-2 cable, plugged into the control box of the car kit, you can leave the mobile in the cradle while using the laptop (connects laptop to car kit). I have since upgraded to the Nokia 6210 using the same setup with DLR-3P cable. Each phone family use their own "intelligent" cables (at about $60.00 ea for genuine ones, thank you). The 5110 Series and 6210 use the same car kit and batteries are interchangeable, although the 6210 uses later battery technology. The 6210 can be setup as a stand alone modem or you can download PC-Suite from Nokia. It is not as good as Data Suite and for the extra money I don't think the 6210 setup is any better than my old 6150. As far as cost is concerned I can down load an average email in about 20-25 seconds each. I guess it depends which plan you are on. Hope this helps. FollowUp 1 of 1 posted 06 Mar 2002
Now I'm confused
Received my cable today, a geniune DLR-3P cable. Seems to work well
Now figuring out how to connect it to the carkit. The nokia phone pinout mentions a 2.8V power as well, for use with the DLR-3P cable. However, the carkit doesnt seem to provide this power, at least, it seems to give only 10V (pin 2 of the X200 connector).
I'm going to build a small powerregulator in the carkit I think, at least, if I can get it to work. To make it even easier, the phone seems to have an input also, which informs the phone of a connecte accesoire.
Keep you informed, heating up soldering iron atm
Update: Can't get it working yet, phone needs to enter a "accesoire mode" or something like that. Need to get the right screwdrivers to open my MMC-1 (phone holder) to see whats inside, seems there is some electronics in it.
