Cark-91

Zorro,
I read somewhere that a cark-91 can be used with phonecontrol. How are the connections made ? (totally noob with phonecontrol ...) Is the cark-91 connected to the pc (rj45) with the data/phone connector ?

No, the cark is connected to the head unit. PhoCo is connected over Bluetooth.

Hmmm I was wondering about hooking the CARK upto my PC.

I can connect it to my headunit which works fine.

I can connect the phone to a PC.

But how to connect the car kit to the PC and/or HU?

There is a datacable called DACS-2 which provides a Serial connection to the CARK-91 but it is very difficult to find these days - I have been searching to no avail so far as I have the CARK-91 and a Nokia 6310

In the same way you do it with the headunit. Connect the loudspreaker output to the line in of your PC. The mute signal isn't needed if you use PhoCo and the Mic input goes still directly into the Cark.

BTW: Why "and"?

I want to be able to control the dialling etc of the phone from the PC but I want the sound to go directly to the HU.

Also if I haven't got the PC on I still might want to be able to use the phone.

The Cark works fully autarkic. It has it's own mic and it's own loudspeaker (for those HU's which don't have an line-in for phones). The only signal that goes to the HU is "Mute".

So, you don't need the PC to run the Cark. You even don't need a HU to do so.

Where's the problem?

I want to be able to dial from the PC rather than the phone.

I also want to be able to connect to the net through the phone.

The more I can connect to the PC the better

I have a serial cable that will connect to phone. Maybe could be modified to fit to the CARK-91 Kit.

I'm running a CARK-91 with a Connects2 kit to integrate the Steering Wheel controls with the HU display on my BMW E46. Works very well and displays call info/phone book on my HU display and even tells me on the HU when i get an SMS message. Full integration with carpc would be cool, but after having spent money on the Connects2 interface its not top priority.
