I'll do some more testing with the basic calling features, but it's too bad the rest of it doesn't work.

From a high-level point of view, I'd like to understand where this is falling down - I believe it is because the Treo didn't make a full-featured Serial Port Profile available via Bluetooth, which is how PhoneControl interacts with phones. However, is it correct that if there was software that used the headset/carkit bluetooth profile, that more functionality (in the case of the Treo) would be available? This seems to be true given the level of functionality that BT car kits like the Parrot CK3100 allow with the Treo. Zorro, if this is true, do these profiles also use the AT command set, such that the software would just need to be adjusted to use different BT profiles?

I'm not suggesting you should (or would want to) modify PhoneControl just for this, since the Treo seems to be in the minority as far as working phones. I'm just curious as to how big a change it would be, and if it is possible. I'm sure I'm over-simplifying this problem.

Let me put it this way:
The AT-Commandset is a (more or less) international standard. If the software is implemented well, there's no need to look out for what so ever.

There sure are other options available but those options cost money, a lot of money. I personally don't think that this investment would ever return for the Treo only (especially not since Palm announced to switch to WindowsMobile - for which I already have an working solution).

But here's the bottom line: If someone goes to "hack" some viable AT-Command Interpreter for the Treo, everyone will be happy

I understand and appreciate your position. I still think that your software would have more universal acceptance if it used the headset/carkit profile for those phones that don't have a well-implemented SPP. I think most phone manufacturers place a greater amount of priority and testing in the headset profile, since they know a very small percentage of their users will use the serial port profile.

I'm just bummed that I can't use PhoneCo.

Well, exactelly this is my point too. I'm not selling as much as this would legitimate to spend another $ 5K on PhoCo.

I'm just bummed that everyone is ****ing me on, even though they know it's the manufacturers fault.

Ok, Palm just released a software/firmware update to the 650, which is supposed to upgrade some of the bluetooth functionality, so I'm ready for another round of testing. I uninstalled 1.5, and installed 1.6, but it's saying I don't have a license (possibly thinking that my 1.5 license ran out)?

In any case, if you can help me get past this, I can try another round of testing to see if the updates will allow it to work better with PhoneControl. Thanks.

I read that topic, but it didn't seem to apply to me - I don't have a license, I was using the 30-day trial period for 1.5. I expected to be able to do the same for 1.6, which is why I was surprised by the "invalid license" message after installing.

What? You don't have a license? Why am I talking to you then?

If you've downloaded 1.6 shortly after I released the Beta, you have to re-download it and install it again.
