Angry Bluetooth and a SE P900

    Hi Guys...

OK I spent a whole night last night trying to get my SE P900 to Bluetooth with my desktop PC…before I try it on my VanPc.

I bought 2 Safecom Bluetooth USB dongles.

    1 is 10m class 2...the other is 100m Class 1.

I haven’t even taken the 100m out of its box as of yet

They both use Widcom drivers...and I have managed to get some success in getting the P900 to work.

I can get the dial up networking to connect...and stay connected as long as I wish.

But the serial port connection keeps dropping within a few seconds...then comes back...then drops...my guit feeling is that it is a P900 problem...but was hoping that someone with a P900 or P800 could shout in here if they have the same problems.

Also, the serial port is supposed to connect automatically…but when it does…it gives a pop up screen saying “A serial port connection has been established” kinda thing…but in the Bluetooth neighborhood window…up pops another message saying that there is a fault?

Now…this leads onto Phonecontrol…I believe I need a serial port connection….so if I can’t get this serial port connection thing resolved…I can’t use phone control…which is a bummer…cause it looks so cool….even without SMS working.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks so much in advance…

OK replying to my own post here (is anyone out there

Here's a quick question...If I can't get my P900 to work...will a SE T610 work OK? I have an old one lying here...would be cool to have a extra phone bolted in the van...

AND!...I'm with Orange in the UK...do they offer a second sim with the same phone number...err...no i didn't think so

what's the best way to do this guys?

    Thanks

For the P900... search... this answer was given already.

    For the T610, yes.

I ditched trying to get the P900 working...thought I would try my old Nokia 6310i...BOOM! Phonecontrol started worked...then stopped working

Couldn't dial any of my phonebook entries...the buttons on the right of the screen stopped working...but the Bluetooth connection never dropped once...unlike the P900...

Shut the phone and PC down...and tried again...still couldn't get any of the buttons to work.

Will have another play over the weekend...still have the T610 to try as well...but still haven't even tried to get my Bluetooth headset into the equation.

    Oh well...

    What about this:

I take it the SE T610 works without any problems?...I have yet to test on my own system...but it will work with both BT headset...or through my vehicle speakers and an external mic right?

If I'm going to go on a long trip...then I could use the SE T610(just swap my current sim card over...after preloading my phonebook from my SE P900 using the PBC convertor) with phonecontrol...and choose the option of headset or vehicle speakers/mic..right?

If I'm correct with this...I will go ahead and try and get phonecontrol to set up with my VanPc.

    I'm I right Zorro?

    Thanks

    Same P900 serial port problem

    Hi Vintage,
Good to hear of someone else having a massve headache with the p900. I've tried and tried and just cannot get a consistant serial port connection established via bluetooth, it's a nightmare!

The dial up networking, as you say, works fine, it is literally the serial port connection.

Are you on Orange by any chance? I just wonder whether it's their firmware that is the problem? Also, have you tried using the usb cradle rather than bluetooth?

This is so frustrating because I love the p900 and the scope of what you can do with it, but at the same time I really want to get phone control working...

    Any ideas Zorro?

All I can say is ditto...to all of the above...

The P900 is some respects is the best phone I have ever had...although I did have a soft spot for my Nokia 6310i (God listen to me!...it's only a phone!)

I hated my T610 with a passion...and swore every time I called someone....but now I look at it...and it looks so small and useful!

The P900 is a brick to carry about...

I am with Orange...have been for years...every time my renewal comes round....I always manage to squeeze them into some deal...curently 500 free minutes a month...maybe others have a better deal...

Do you know if Orange offer two sims with the same number?...would be handy...could use an old phone for phonecontrol!

I'm going to toy with the T610...and see what can be done with phonecontrol...then maybe just use the T610 for long trips...swap out the simcard.
