    Suggestion (possibly a dumb one)

Zorro, since many BT (bluetooth) phones only allow one connection over BT at once it makes the function of PhoCo over BT a little crippled. I was wondering if you could make it so when PhoCo connects over BT, it connects using the Headset profile (on host computer) to the Audio Gateway profile (on the phone) and use the Headset/Audio Gateway connection to send serial commands and phonebook contents. This way, when an incoming call comes or if you want to make a call, there is no need to make a second connection since the Headset/Audio Gateway connection is already made. Does this make sense or is it even possible?

wouldnt that require a program on the phone's end to know to send the phonebook when connected via a headset connection? I dont think this would be practical. However, if once a call is made, if the phonecontorl disconnected the data connection and initiated a headset connection this would be cool. I've suggested this before and was told it would be difficult.

Not at all. You're bound to use the profiles as defined.
Even using the lowest possible layer of BT (L2CAP) wouldn't guarantee that it'll be working.
Beside... PhoCo isn't using BT, it's using the (virtual) COM port... using BT only would leave out all cable/IR users.

You're not up-to-date... look at the "what's new" description in 1.4 Version

Well, the suggestion was to make an additional interface only when a BT connection is chosen. Perhaps a checkbox in the initial settings menu to tell PhoCo if the connection is over BT or over cable/IR.

For some reason I thought the headset/audio gateway profiles included the ability to send serial commands. For transferring phonebooks, that would requires a serial connection but since PhoCo caches the phonebook...you could just chose to sync the phonebook over a virtual serial com port periodically. It think this is how OEM BT systems work.

    the site says
    Ability to disconnect from phone.
This feature was built in to give you the opportunity establishing connections to other devices such as headsets.
This function is invoked by double clicking the Signal Strength bar and will reconnect automatically as soon as the connection is available.
doesnt say anything about automatically connecting the headset service

Well this is easy.. simply click the button... on your headset.

You can't tell one device to do something if you're not connected, what you can't be because only one conection is possible.

Requesting from a third device to connect two others... man, hackers would be very happy to have such feature...

    You see the dramatic?

Under normal operation, it is connected as a handsfree device and you can use the navigation screen to dial and receive calls...

Yes, that true. Receiving/making calls is a part of the Handsfree (not Headset!) profile.

Again, I'm not dealing with Bluetooth directly, I'm dealing with the virtual COM port. This won't change in the near future for various reasons.
If you're not happy with that, you have to look out for another application.
