PhoCo won't use port over COM16?

    Hi all,

For some stupid reason, my Serial Port on my Ericsson Z600 connects as COM17 / COM18. I checked all lower ports, and I have 8 used by the Serial GPS driver, and 9 by some other Bluetooth serial port service, and I cannot change the Ericsson port to anything lower than 17 for the life of me. At the same time, PhoCo says that it can't use ports over COM16. What can I do?... I tried removing the lower ports, but the new ones still install as COM17, 18, 19 and further

Any help appreciated. Is there any patch to PhoCo to use ports higher than 17 or something?.... Stupid Windows

    Cheers,

    -pN

If I'm not mistaken (I'm not at the car right now), I don't get the same options as I get for the regular ports. For regular ports, I can go to Device Manager -> Ports -> Communications Port -> Properties -> Port Settings -> Advanced and change to whatever COM port I want; but if I remember correctly, with the WIDCOMM4 Bluetooth drivers, I do not even have such a tab - I only have General, Driver and Details.

[EDIT]: I just went to check, and there is definitely no option for modifying the number of the COM port. Any other solutions?

try installing on you home PC, and see if it picks the same ports.

If it does then you are fcuk'd and will need zorro to make a change in his software.

If it picks a lower port then you might need to remove all virtual serial ports from your car PC and try reinstalling. And I mean really uninstall, coz it could be that the phone software is remebering what port it first went to.

there is an FAQ about this on Zorros site: www.phoco.net

It is a problem with the .NET serial stuff I think and as far as I know Zorro can't get around it, he says that the only way to get around it is reinstall or possibly in Device Manager view all hidden devices and remove any hidden com ports from previous attempts.

    Worth a go before formatting.

While searching around, I found the following solution about how to force Windows to not pretend that COM ports are used:

    http://www.ipaqhq.com/forums/showthr...7323#post87323

Seem like that could work, assuming those ports are REALLY not used (and I'd have to make sure to uninstall EVERYTHING before forcing those COM ports to open) - but certainly seems a good shot before a reinstall

Cool, you have exactly the same solution. I guess you must've found it at the same place, just earlier than me. Points to you - looking forward to trying it
