    Hi there
Used the mentioned guide once and it worked for me.
Click start -> run -> type: "eventvwr.msc" (without the ") and take a look at your events. Specially look for Problems/errors which are created by the Routing and Remote access service.

Do you use a usual XP or are stripped down (nlite) version?

    I had the same trouble,

I got it working by deleting any incoming connection icons in MY NETWORK PLACES. then going to the device manager and deleting under MODEMS, "Communications cable between two computers", Then i tried starting what you did again, then it worked.

    Weird way, but it worked.

i am having trouble to install the Widcomm drivers, everytime i put my dongle in the usb port it automatically installs the window drivers for it. is there anyway of stopping this happenning. i have noticed that there is no way to unistall them anyway!, i have looked for the patches but i cant find them on here at all. please could someone help me please???????????
