well alright I now do want to group buy, before I was interested in just a price and PM'd someone, I then would have made a decision, but like all banned records that go to number 1, I just want to have a banned item on my car, whos taking my money?

Folks, this has nothing to do with competition. Not only have the mods and admins been watching this thread, we've been cheering it on. This is an innovative and cool car PC development and we want it to succeed. The issue is that mp3car.com could be asked to step in if something goes wrong with a purchase - which has happened in the past. The rule that was instituted then is the same one that is in effect now. No group buys through mp3car.com.

    Um...no...

I've been watching this thread hoping someone would take development and start selling it as I've been wanting to put something like this up on the store since we currently don't offer anything like this (no one does).

Maybe if they stocked products that people where trying to group buy, they would sell said products, and make profit, and the world would be a happy place for all.
Who makes this kit in a ready to use fashion? It doesn't make sense for us to just sell a TPMS kit that's not for use with a CarPC....

But when the product that people are discussing group buying are items not sold by the store, i see no harm no foul, except for it breaking the forum rules.
Perhaps you need to understand the reasoning behind not allowing group buys on this forum then...because the reasons you have given are NOT it.

I got an "infraction" when I tried to sum up a few people to buy LCD panels from Sharp.

First panel was $400, next two $200 and from then on $150 if I remember correctly.

Eventually I bought one for $400, and the business was so small I had to wait for ever to get it.

I think that we all can take care of our selves in these eBay times not to get scamed. We are all adults (?) here.

Now I am developing a pcb that I would like to share with the community, and then I cannot tell everyone that it is available?

I am glad that someone will take on the job to organize a purchase like this. It saves me a lot of work, and probably money.

So how can this be harmful to mp3car.com---

Guys, I don't want to start a ****ing match in this thread or any other. Mp3car and their forums have their rules. I did not mean to break them if I did, or even bend them. That is why I told everyone interested to email me off the forums. We may not agree with the rules, but we agreed to follow them.

Now lets get this banter out of this thread. I don't want to smear dirt all the great work done by Robby and everyone else.

So isn't "That is why I told everyone interested to email me off the forums" bending the rules?

Doesn't this show that there are sometimes need for group buy's? And that the rules are not easy to understand?

Isn't buying things together a great way of combining effort into making a great function?

It's a marvelous forum without comparison, why not improve it a bit further?

The need for bending rules came up in this thread, why not discuss it here in a relevant example? (thanks for joining mp3car)

I'm not upset with anyone, and I have no intension of breaking any rules either.

I still want to be part of that group buy :-)

Surely the admin here can create a separate area on this forum to accommodate the odd group buy proposal.

Those that want to participate have to log onto the area using a password and in doing so 'sign' an agreement that mp3car cannot be held responsible should it go tits up.

Seems to me that would be a responsible way to facilitate this and remove any liabilty that mp3car might otherwise face.

Look, I want one of these too, but lets get the facts straight.

The no group buy policy has nothing to do with the store and never did. In fact this rule was made well before the store even existed. It was put in place because some members were ripping of others and then the forum was asked to get involved by the people that were ripped off.

@lez, did you suggest this to Jan to stock in the store? How is she to know if you don't tell her? If you did, remind her, she may have forgotten (she is a busy girl). If not, then don't winge that it isn't there.

@LYHTSPD, this wasn't a warning to just you. This was to everyone. There is a reason why this policy is in place. Read above. Also the caps was the only way to get everyones attention. I mention the policy in a post above and then people started asking "can I be in the group buy?".
I appreciate you wanting to stop the slinging match. I don't want to be involved in one either. I am here to make sure that the rules are followed.

To all, If you disagree with this rule that is fine. I did not make it and it is not up to me to change it. If you want it changed talk to the admins (I highly doubt this one will be changed). As I said, I am here to make sure that the rules are followed. I saw someone mention that we are all adults. While that may be true, not everyone acts like it.

Lastly, as I said to Lez. If you want something in the store, send an email to the appropriate people.

Thanks for taking this seriously and openly, Meddler.

Let me ask one thing (sorry to waste the space) about the grey zone.

Is it ok to invite others in thread to email or pm to set something up privately? If so, I'm quite happy with that.
