Powering up amp from the computer psu..

Can i power up my Pyramid 900 amp from my computer psu?? I want to do this because sometimes i stop my car in front of my house and turn the sound on powering the computer from my house electrical system (i use an inverter on the car). So with everythig powered by the computer psu who is not powered by my car baterie, i will not have problem to kill my baterie again hehe. Is it possible?? Will the computer psu (250W) hold an amp + pentium II 300 + 5.6" lcd beeing powered from it???

Um, does the 900 in the title refer to its power output? Like 900 watts peak? If so, 900watts into 250watts doesnt go. OK so you wont be running it flat out, but even so, this is a very bad idea.

Not a good idea at all...

You're amp draws a lot of power. On top of that when the music "hits" it draws a spike of current.

Unless you want to destroy your power supply (and possibly some components) don't attempt this.

What you could try doing is making a cigarette lighter style adapter in your trunk that these things plug into. There are ac-dc adapters that have a cigarette adapter style plug .. This could possibly work if the adapter has enough power output.

but... if you stop and think about it... it's a pyramid amp... it says 900W, but it's probably nowhere near there.

I think you'll blow something up.
    (Not from personal experience.)

How about when you plug your PC into your AC from home, you also plug in one of those AC to DC cigarette chargers.

My ADS PH15 is 600W peak 300W RMS 6 channel AMP.
It it utilizes twin power and ground leads of 30amps each...

Yes, you will still drain faster than you can charge, but as long as you keep it plugged in long enough after, you should be good...

What I meant was if your car was not running and you wanted to run the carputer from AC power and the amps from the car battery with the car off...

Ahh, nope, I'm still lost.. well, you might get away with it.. or, you could modify the AC-DC PS to get more power on the 12volts... I would assume it to be 8-12amps ATM, so, it might be anough.... depends on what the amp is really capibable of.. if you don't mind possibly killing a PS, then try it...
