hi

i now have pics of the power supply and socket

this is the plug from power supply to PC



this is where it plugs into the PC



and this is the power supply brick



i looked into using the citrix p2140 but i do not think the plugs would match, people have used it for the sx270 which has 6 outputs from the powersupply, when mine has 8 outputs.

this is getting me confused.

Any help?

also i just thought of an idea, why not use a UPS to power the computer, just remove the UPS battery and connect the car's battery to it, it works exactly the same. regulated too.

This thread seems to have the foremost thought on the Dell DA-2 Power Supply, so I will ask my question here with hopes that one of you brilliant individuals can assist me.

I recently purchased a Dell DA-2 power supply with the purpose of interfacing it with a non-computer device. When I connect the power supply to the AC outlet the green light on the power supply illuminats. However, when I measure the voltage coming out of the DC end of the cable (between pins 2 and 6, 3 and 7, 4 and 8) it does not provide any output. Does the DA-2 require a pin on the DC end of the cable to be shorted before providing the desired electrical output? Also, does someone know if anyone manufactures an 8 pin DC power connector that would fit the DC end of the DA-2 cable (to re-engineer it for a different DC power interface without sacrificing the cable)?

Just bought a SX280 and I have a question.(Hasn't arrived yet)

1. My current config has a M4 250 watt will removal of dells PSU allow room for this power supply?

Are you hoping to put the M4 inside the chassis? Well the stock PSU on the SX280 is external so you may be out of luck. I don't think the M4 will interface with the SX280 anyways. It's pretty tight inside those little boxes. I've got 3 of 'em running right now (LOVE 'em too)

Got the comp way smaller and faster than my current sys. 2.8 HT vs Little valley 1.2. If in a car are you using an inverter or maybe a Carnex (like the mac guys use). Been looking at the carnex 2140 Buying a second PSU to hack up for the connections. Little valley becomes a nas box.
