Thread: AC-DC power supply & shutdown controler?

I was searching and found this Schematics/Pin Outs/Diagrams

Would this work? the reason might need a lot of power, is because i have a lot of the supplies already. i have a 1000 watt inverter. etc....

My system consists of a:

BIOSTAR P4M800 Pro-M7 775 DDR2 MATX
INTEL CELERON 356 OEM
KINGSTON 512MB DDR2 Value RAM Memory - DIMM 667MHz CL5 (KVR667D2N5/512)
SolidTek MINI TRACK BALL KB-5010U White USB Wired Mini Keyboard with trackball
LITEON 16X SATA DVD ROM BLACK OEM (SHD-16S1S)
20 GB Dell Laptop hardrive= 2.5"
Soon to come:
GPS, bigger hardrive, DVD burner.

I already had the supplies around my house.

What, if any DC-DC supply could power these components?

Why would you say your system is too powerful for dSATX?

Well 25= motherboard + 86= CPU + 25= DVD drive + 8= 512 DDR2 memoryif i upgrade to a bigger HD which means 3.5" because right know i only have 20 GB and want to upgrade to at least 100 GB. 25+25+86+8+new/Bigger HD 25=169 All on the 12Volt rail which the DS-ATX only has 144 capacity. So i don't see how this will work in less i'm missing something?

Easy.
Go with a slim DVD drive and a laptop HDD. Neither of those pull from the 12v rail.

You could also go with an Opus 250w or 320w PSU.

Personally, I'd look into a setup based on a less power-hungry CPU.

I assume that the slim DVD drive and a laptop HDD run off the 5v rail. if i did this would i still have room to add a USB GPS,OBD,Bluetooth, etc...

if i returnd my stuff and picked these products up would i be able to use my M2-ATX?

if i could it would cost me another 80, but make it so i don't have to buy a DS-ATX.

or should i keep what have and and return the M2-ATX and the regular DVD drive and buy a DS-ATX and a Slim DVD?

Okay, if you intended to use inverter, there is NO need for a DSATX. You want the SDC function only, get the Micro SDC or uSDC. It was selling for about 40 something on the store. It has basically all most everything (SDC functions) from the DSATX. Well, the DSATX was base on the uSDC with more feature.

If you already has the DSATX, you can use the 12V out (yellow wire) to power a relay to switch on the inverter.

Its not that i intended to use a inverter, i was asking if it would work. At this point i returned every thing except the M2-ATX. and intend buy something less power hungry. What do you think i should buy. I will use a slim DVD, 2.5" HD. I have $200 to spend on Motherboard/CPU/Memory, what and where should i buy?

I would advice you not to "jump in" and buying part yet. Spend sometime search and read this forum to see what other were using and how it that compare to your plan. This will save you some time and headache down the road.
None VIA CPU low power part is hard to come from time to time.

Again. I wouldn't recommend the M2 to power the hardware from the link above. DSATX, Opus are expensive, and the M2 is cheap for a reason. There are people happy with the M2 but also cry with it burning other components as well.
Just make sure that you take thing easy one at a time.
