Thread: Build-Your-Own PSU?

Hi everyone. I think I have finalized my configuration of my computer for my carputer and need to start thinking about moving it to my truck.

My dad wants to build a power supply instead of buying one. He said to start off, i need a good schematic. I did some searching on Google and here but wasn't able to find anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding a schematic?

Also, we were thinking that instead of building one, in a standard ATX power supply, somewhere in there, it converts the AC signal to DC to provide to the computer. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I might be able to find where in a standard ATX PSU that might be?

I'm not good with electronics but my dad is a whiz. My only problem is that he is only home on the weekends so I have to wait for the weekend to actually do anything. I was thinking that if I could get a headstart, it would be quicker.
