    Power Inverter Question

    Hey All, Quick question here....

I have a power inverter here hardwired to be hot when the key is on. It gets great voltage, no problems when the car is on etc... Its not even powering the computer, just a few small accessory devices.

    Now to the point....

The inverter like i said is hot when the key is in, and off when the key gets taken out. To avoid me having to go and flick the switch off when i get out and flick it on right after i start the car, what suggestion can you guys make.

If i leave it on all the time, it goes into protection mode when the car starts, forcing me to have to go open the trunk, flick it off, wait and then flick it on again.

if i leave it off all the time, I have to manually go back and flick it on and off every single time i use the car....

    Relay?
Put a capacitor before the inverter to handle the line noise/voltage flux when the car starts?

just hack the switch and put one in the cabin.

To prevent the voltage drop off when starting, use a tank circuit. If it is only on when the key is on, you shouldn't have a shut down issue. Turn off the key, no more power, end of issue.
If none of this is what you want, I'll refer you to the search button. There are quite a few inverter threads around about hacking the button and startup/shutdown options using relays and whatnot.

    Good luck

I'll look into that. I was told by a couple manufacturers to use a capacitor to aid in a "clean" shutdown.
