pc using a lot of power when shut down

    Hi,
i have a problem: when my pc is shutdown, it uses so much power, that it drains my battery.
i measured it, and when i plug in the fuse from my pc, it uses 0.5A (6watt) when it's shut down...
what can the problem be? I never had this before, it started a week ago...
can it be that some usb devices keep using power when my pc is shut down or in standby (or hibernated)? can that be the problem? or is it something else? i recently connected my dvd drive via usb instead of ide (with an ide to usb convertor), but the power for that is comming from a regular molex, so there is no power on that when pc is off...

Have you tried measuring the current draw after unplugging all USB devices?

i am interesting in it too. What type of power supply do you use ?
400Watt CarPC power supply for powerfull systems- thaks for Beta testers- it was perfect.

Remember - AMD Athlon XP (socket A) powers from 5v rail in most times !

ok, so i got to measure things...

when my pc is shut down completly, and all usb devices are plugged out, my pc eats 1.2watt. when my usb cables are plugged in (steering wheel control, touchscreen, usb dvd drive (all 3 over a hub) and external soundcard), my pc eats about 4.8 watt!
what sould a pc normally use when completly shut down? 'coz i think 1.2 watt is also quite much. and what should it use when in hibernation /standby? and can i change some setting (in bios or somewhere) to feed no power to my isb devices when pc in out (shut down, hibernated, standby)

a lot of question, i know... hope to get the same amount of answers

Yes, at least in my BIOS, there's a setting to shut down USB in Standby (S3) mode.
