Thread: DSATX starts fans then dies.

everything is brand new and never been used before. i've triple checked the mobo power-switch polarity and its fine.

it turns on for a few seconds and automatically shuts off, no beeps no nothing..

is there a way to know if something is fried or not..or am i gonna have to hook the mobo up to a AC-DC PSU and see if that works??

P.S.: mobo uses 24pin, DSATX has 20pins..ive read that 20-24 converter cables dont really do much and every 24pin is compatible with a 20pin. can that be the problem?? my 4pin is connected to give the CPU power.

im sorry i dont quite understand, i connected the power switch between the mobo and PSU to G1,G2 (1st row) triple checked the polarity. I didnt set any jumpers on the rest of JP1 its all clear.

in the quick installation steps there are also these.

1) Set P1 to set the time before shutdown. Adjustable between 0-20 minutes by default in Basic Mode.
2) Set P2 jumper to set the low voltage cutout voltage. To minimize this feature, set it to 10 volts (fully
counter clockwise). P2 is adjustable between 10-12 volts.

Do i need to do this..because I skipped these 2 steps all together...

just to clarify, the PSU doesnt turn off. the mobo turns off..but the PSU doesnt. Also when the mobo first turns on, it startles a little..for instance the case fans begin to spin up and then the CPU fan..im sure thats fine and has nothing to do with this problem

Also i am running a 10gauge (10ft) wire fused with 30amps to the VIN, and the same from GRND to negative terminal.

My motherboard turns on for a second the first time i give the dsatx power too.

You really shouldnt have to mess with p1 and p2 to get it working. But set p1 to max time and p2 to full counter clockwise for now.

Try reversing the small 2 pin power button plug on your motherboard (that comes from the dsatx), they are mislabeled sometimes.

thanks, but i think i got the power switch correctly. because it wasnt powering up at all before, but now it is..ill check again and try it (ill reverse again and see if that works)

i really didnt want to mess with P1 or P2 but i guess ill have to.

ill set P1 to max time and P2 to 10V (full counter clockwise i believe)??

I'll also check my circuit with a voltmeter and report back here.

any other suggestions??

ok here are a few tips..
1. does your mobo has a 4Pin power in adition to the 24pins?? did you hook it up
if No 1 is OK then
2. your mobo might be using an inverted power-up logic..check Jeff's pages for info on how to make a cable for thos mobo's

yes the 4PIN is connected.

if i connect the case to the power switch and then just use the case to power it up, that should solve the issue temporarily? (issue of inverted power-up)..

yes i guess so

that also happens if the supply voltage is below te setting (set by P2) it happened to me also when i was testing my carpc using an old desktop PSU which was supplying 11volts instead of 12..
you should really hook up a screen to see if it is posting..
