    Power Distrobution back to ground?

So I have been looking high and low trying to find a "best practice" answer, but keep hearing multiple things and I am trying to avoid grounding loops.

My hope is to use two power distribution blocks, one for +12V, the other for ground and going straight back to the battery with a 4 awg cable.

Just looking to hear opinions/suggestions before I go through with this (might just hear a "WTF are you thinking?")

The other thing I have been trying to figure out, is I have a Xenarc in the front of the car and will be powering it from the M2-ATX. Only problem is the cable coming from the PSU is 20AWG and I have around 10 feet or so to cable. I know the proper size cable should be 14AWG. What has everyones practice been to connect these two awgs? I'm thinking that if I just solder them together at the point where the case is and stick a fuse inbetween I should be fine but what about the 20awg going into the PSU? Just want to make sure that little piece of cable won't cause me any pain.

Any constructive criticism/comments are appreciated ^_^

    Thanks

Depending on where you have the ground distro, a ground to the chassis might be the better solution. A shorter ground is usually the better option.
