SPLIT: usb hub

sorry to hijack but its related, I need to install a USB HUB and need 5V for it. Im using a laptop so a 5V rail is not available. Does anyone has a diagram to build a good 5V regulator. I migth need to do a 12v one for the lilliput screen too as the one it comes with injects to much noise

For $25, you can save yourself the hassle and simply purchase one: http://store.mp3car.com/Carnetix_CNX..._p/pwr-016.htm

Considering your situation, you might even be better ofrf with a Carnetix P1900 or P2140 to power the laptop, the screen and your USB hub.
It all depends on the voltage requirement of your make/ model of laptop.

any ideas on what I can use to power 3 hubs darque? I was thinking of using the red and black wire on one of the device connectors on the power supply for the PC... will it be able to provide 5v for all 3 hubs, or would it be split into 3 meaning 1.7v per hub?

PS: I have a M2... 160watts in the PC. But I also have a 60Watt power supply that came with the case and never used.... can i use this to power the 3 hubs?

I may not be able to use it though.... I think its a Morex 60 watt.... and the Mp3car store warns not to use it in the car.
