    18.5 or 20v setting on Carnetix 2140 for a 19v mobo?

    Hi All,
Wondering if I'd fry the mobo if I used the 20v setting? The mobo needs 19v, and the carnetix 2140 has choice of 18.5 or 20. Which one should I choose?

Try the 18.5 and see if it works, but I would not use the 20v. The P1900 has a 19v option. I know that doesn't help you now, but if your pc is 19v, the P1900 would was the one meant for it. (Although I know the P1900 lacks the USB interface which is a big downfall).

You might want to try the 20 volt setting without the motherboard hooked up and measure the voltage on the primary output. It might end up being closer to 19v than 20v.

When I used a 2140 for a Toshiba laptop, I used a resistor across J1 on the 2140 to get it to do 15v, so there might be a way to use a resistor to get it to do 19v.

Carnetix dealers have "Voltage Programming Jumper Kits" for the 2140 that allow you to set it to do 13v, 14v, 15v, 16v and 17v so there should be another resistance value to get it to 19v.
